The STANDBY/TEMP light stays on long after the set has cooled and the BLACK screen is just grey. The screen is to bright. I am sure that there are codes that will reset the unit to original specs or tell you what is wrong. The unit turns on and off fine. Going to the menu I can't reset the unit to the darker settings. My original thought was the bulb, but looking at the back of the set, the lamp appears to be on while the picture is black, and I haven't noticed any dimming.
