Hitachi UX21516 (LP700) Replacement Projection LCD TV Lamp “How-To” Guide

Apr 18, 2007 in Hitachi LCD Projection

This guide is being published to show how easy it is to replace your original Hitachi Lamp.

NORMAL DISCLAIMER:
— Do NOT purchase generic brand lamps such as LTI, APO or third-party manufacturers such as OSRAM. These lamps were NOT engineered with and for your TV…only your Philips lamp has been engineered to work flawlessly and output the best possible color. Above that, it just doesn’t make sense to choose an aftermarket lamp for a $5-$10 difference (and in many cases they are more expensive!!). Be a smart consumer and do your research! Discount-Merchant.com promises to be the low price leader in all Projection TV Lamps they carry…if this is not true, let us know and we’ll fix it!

Necessities:

1. Standard Philips Screwdriver
2. Pair of Pliers
3. A new Philips Lamp
4. 15 minutes of your time

Here is the Hitachi Lamp Enclosure, remember you can click on any image to enlarge!

Step 1: First thing we need to remove is the metal cage…

If we pull outwards and away from the plastic enclosure, the metal cage should come loose…In the pictures above and below you can see a groove where you can place your thumb inside and pull.

Now you can slide it off the plastic enclosure…

With the metal cage off, we can see our lamp and the screws holding it down…

Notice that the original lamp is manufactured by Philips. Your original lamp is also a 100W/120W

Hitachi LP700 UX21516 LCD Projection TV LAMP / Bulb Discount-Merchant.com

Notice there are two screws…one on either side holding the lamp in place…we need to unscrew these with our Philips screwdriver, but first…

Let’s unscrew the screw holding the connect plug in place.

With that removed, we head back to unscrew the lamp…

Now here is the lamp and enclosure apart…very simple, isn’t it?!?

All that’s left is to swap out the power plug from the old lamp onto the new lamp:

Our pliers come into use here to remove the nut from the center of the lamp.

NOTE: Be careful when screwing in the side connector on to your new lamp. It’s best to hand torque as this one as it is very sensitive and might break with a lot of torque.

Now assemble in reverse order…do not forget the connector!

Your new lamp is inside the enclosure and your old lamp needs to be properly disposed of…often times it is impossible to tell a good lamp from a defective one, don’t get them mixed up! visit: http://lamprecycle.org or more information on recycling your bare lamp.

IMPORTANT: The bulb should be handled with a clean cloth at all times to avoid any dirt or oil. Our hands are naturally oily…this is a no-no for these lamps. It doesn’t hurt to do a final wipe with a clean, non-abrasive, lent free cloth before reinstalling your lamp…

Zenith LAMP Replacement “How-To” Guide - 6912V00006C, 6912V00006A, 3110V00139B

Apr 17, 2007 in Zenith / LG Projection LCD

This guide is presented to show you, the consumer, how easy and trouble free it is to change the consumable lamp inside your Zenith Projection LCD TV.

Buying just the lamp (instead of the lamp + enclosure) is a smart choice because:

1) less expensive

2) less waste

One word of caution — Do NOT purchase generic brand lamps such as LTI, APO or third-party manufacturers such as OSRAM. These lamps where NOT engineered with your TV…only your Philips lamp has been engineered to work flawlessly and display the best possible color and experience for the consumer. Above that, it just doesn’t make sense to choose an aftermarket lamp for $5-$10 difference (or in many cases more money!!). Discount-Merchant.com promises to be the low price leader in all Projection TV Lamps they carry…if this is not true, let us know and we’ll fix it!

Necessities:

Straight from Zenith themselves…Here is a 3 page supplement guide to this write-up for locating your enclosure and resetting your lamp counter

1. Standard Philips Screwdriver
2. Pair of Pliers
3. A new Philips Lamp
4. 15 minutes of your time

Step 1: Locate the lamp enclosure! Remember, click to enlarge any photo!

Step 2: Now unscrew the lamp cover to expose the enclosure

Zenith_6912V00006C_6912V00006A_3110V00139B_Replacement_Lamp_Discount-Merchant.com

Step 3: We can see a metal handle to pull the assembly out, but first there are two screws!

Step 4: With the enclosure removed, we need to unscrew the metal cover of the enclosure:

Before re-assembly, take a good look at your lamp…it’s a Philips manufactured part!

Zenith_6912V00006C_6912V00006A_3110V00139B_Replacement_Lamp_Discount-Merchant.com

Step 7: Almost forgot why we needed the pliers…to loosen the nut holding the connector to the lamp
Zenith_6912V00006C_6912V00006A_3110V00139B_Replacement_Lamp_Discount-Merchant.com
When installing the new lamp on the clip surround, make sure that the text on the lamp and the connector head align with the opening as shown below

Zenith_6912V00006C_6912V00006A_3110V00139B_Replacement_Lamp_Discount-Merchant.com
There is a chance a little plastic from the lead terminals is loose…just pop it back in place!

Once you’ve got the connector clip attached again, the lamp and surround clip can be slid back into the plastic housing

Now just put the metal cover back on the housing and reseat the lamp in place.
Zenith_6912V00006C_6912V00006A_3110V00139B_Replacement_Lamp_Discount-Merchant.com
You’ve got 4 screws for the metal cover, and two more screws holding the lamp in place inside the TV. Then there is another two screws securing the enclosure access door. Make sure all screws are tight and the access door cover is in place before trying to turn on the TV.

IMPORTANT: The bulb should be handled with a clean cloth to avoid any dirt or oil. Our hands are naturally oily…this is a no-no for these lamps. It doesn’t hurt to do a final wipe with a clean, non-abrasive, lent free cloth before reinstalling your lamp..

Samsung BP96-00826A Replacement Lamp Enclosure Pictures

Apr 12, 2007 in Samsung Lamps

The BP96-00826A lamp enclosure was primarily manufactured for the HLR Series and select HLP Series TVs.  There’s widespread misunderstanding about lamp compatiblity and various Lamp Codes because there are two different lamps inside the HLP Series TVs. The BP96-00826A is a replacement to the BP96-00608A Lamp Code.   The BP96-00608A sports the Big Samsung Lamp (made by Philips) while the BP96-00826A sports the Small Samsung Lamp (also made by Philips).  These are both 100W/120W lamps but physically they are different.  Regardless, some of the compatible models are listed below:

How to extend the life of your DLP, LCoS, SXRD, HD-ILA, or LCD TV Lamp -Intuitive Guide

Apr 07, 2007 in RCA DLP Discussion, Samsung DLP Discussion, JVC D-ILA Discussion, Hitachi LCD Projection, Philips LCOS

It’s a terrible feeling…it sucks when you’re anticipating watching your favorite program and “pop,” the lamp in your projection TV fails :(  Why did it happen?  You were just watching TV, it’s not like you were wrestling with it!  Why?!?In our experience, there are a number of factors that can contribute to a premature lamp failure.  Keep in mind that there is no fail-safe course of action you can take…these lamps are consumable products…they are designed to need replacing.  Nevertheless, there are a few things you can do to insure your lamp has a healthy and long life.

Swapping out old defective JVC HD-ILA Lamp for a new replacement TS-CL110UAA TS-CL110U lamp

Apr 06, 2007 in Sony Projection LCD

No guide is really necessary but it could be reassurance for those who never though they could do it themselves. Though each series is a little different the same principles apply.

What you need: A Philips Screwdriver.

1) Locate your lamp location (sometimes it’s on the back of the TV, sometimes it’s under the front speaker cover, etc.) If your not sure, look at your manual. If you don’t have your manual, you can download it from JVC by going to: http://books.jvcservice.com

2) Turn off the TV and allow it to cool down. We recommend letting it set for a good 15-20 minutes, JVC recommends an hour!

3) IMPORTANT: Unplug your TV. Make sure you do not unplug your TV prior to letting it cool down as the TV may be to keep an internal fan running.

4) Remove the lamp cover screw and open the panel. You should see the back of the lamp enclosure now. Locate the two screws and unscrew them.

5) Give the handle a slight tug and it should loose the enclosure for the engine. Swap out the lamp enclosure and scews in reverse order :)

Attached below you will see how JVC describes the process in one of the user manuals (note this TV has the lamp enclosure on the back of the set). (Click to enlarge).

How can I enter the Service Menu of my JVC HD-ILA TV? How many hours are on my lamp timer / counter?

Apr 06, 2007 in Sony Projection LCD

First off, be very careful!!!  You are on your own beyond this point.  There is very little iterature available about the JVC Service Menus, nevertheless, if you just want to check how many hours you have on your TV it should be harmless :)

With the TV on:
1) Press the SLEEP TIMER button. It should display something like “SLEEP TIMER 0 MIN”
2) Simultaneously press the DISPLAY & VIDEO STATUS buttons on your remote..you’re in!

If you want to check your lamp hours…

1) Press “4″ on your remote (I know, you don’t see option 4)
2) Scroll down until you see the D70 registery…write this number down on  a scratch pad (probably a 1 or 2 digital number)
3) Then scroll down to D71, and write this number down (can be any number between 0-255)…i.e., 020 (TWENTY) and 002 (TWO)
4) Now multiple the D70 registery by 256, then add the D71 registery number.

an example from the ecoustics.com forum posted by “DSchell”

D070 14
020 14 0001 0100

D071 05
005 05 0000 0101

take the 020 (the D70 registery) and multiple it by 256, then add the D71 register number (005) in this case.
total hours on this lamp is:  5,125.  This is about the standard JVC expects out of these lamps.

How do I reset my lamp timer / counter of my JVC TV TS-CL110UAA (TS-CL110U) lamp after replacing my lamp?

Apr 06, 2007 in JVC D-ILA Discussion

How do I reset my JVC D-ILA lamp counter? How do I clear the lamp warning message? How do I get rid of the annonying Lamp replacement message on my TV screen? Why is this “Replace your lamp” message on my JVC TV set?

If you’ve got a JVC TV, or even another D-ILA or DLP TV and you’re getting a similar message, chances are it’s as simple as reseting the TV lamp hour counter.

Per the JVC Manual, its very simple to reset the lamp counter from any TV using the JVC TS-CL110UAA (TS-CL110U) lamp.

1) Press the Menu button
2) Scroll down to the LAMP TIMER RESET option, scroll right to enter
3) Confirm that it is OK to reset the lamp timer by hitting the OK button.
4) The on-screen menu should confirm the lamp was reset correctly

Below is a snapshot from a JVC Manual (Click to Enlarge):

  JVC_HD-DILA_Reset_Counter_Guide

Why is this warning message in place? JVC, and other manufactures know the mean average life of these consumable lamps. Just as your car has a mileage meter that sometimes gets activated for tuneups and service calls at certain mileages, JVC wants to give its consumers a “heads” up, that you lamp has just about reached it’s average life span. This translates to, it’s a good idea to have a spare back up lamp because this sucker might blow up any second now! So in case you get this message, make sure you have a spare lamp on hand and go ahead and reset the lamp counter to get rid of the annoying message. Once your lamp JVC TS-CL110UAA (TS-CL110U or PK-CL120U) finally goes out and you put in a new lamp, you want to reset your counter again.
