The Hitachi UX21511 Enclosure at first glance is very similar to the Hitachi UX21513, UX21517, UX21518, and other Hitachi enclosures, but it’s different ;)

The Hitachi UX21511 Enclosure uses lamp type LC37. The enclosure is made up of the following pieces:
External Sheet Metal Cage/Housing: part number: NA63991
Internal Sheet Metal: part number: NA72182
Plastic Shell/Cage: NT0455
Clip, holding down the lamp: NA63941

Here are a couple of pictures of the enclosure:

50V500A
50VX500
60V500
60V500A
60VX500

Let us know if we need to edit this blog entry with additional compatible models!

So what’s different about this enclosure?

In the picture above, you can see (EX1 ) that no visible hole drilled out on the Hitachi UX21511 Type A, however, on other Hitachi enclosures such as the UX21513 Type B, this area has been drilled out.

Ok…but how do I know if my Hitachi Projection LCD TV has a bad lamp? How do I diagnose my TV in general?
Here’s a quick Q&A that might help…

Does the LAMP LED indictor stay on (solid)?
If yes, you probably have a bad lamp. Replace and recheck. If not lamp, your ballast is not lighting your lamp…replace that if still no power.

Does the LAMP LED indictor blink continuously?
If yes, than the lamp sensor door might be acting up…or you just don’t have the lamp cover in place. Without the lamp cover, your Hitachi TV will not power on. If you’ve never tampered with this cover, we suggest removing the lamp cover, taking out your lamp enclosure and visually inspecting your lamp. If it looks ok, without any bulges in the center of the filament or other signs of damage, replace the lamp enclosure back in place, tighten all screws, and carefully place the rear lamp cover back on. Check to make sure the lamp door cover is being activated.

Does the TEMP LED indictor stay on (solid)?
If yes, your TVs internal temperature is too high. Make sure there is decent ventilation on the back side of the TV. If the TV is in a sealed entertainment center, this could be the problem. Remove your TV from the current air-restrictive environment and try to turn it on again…if problem persists, contact an authorized Hitachi servicer.

Does the TEMP LED indictor blink continuously?
If yes, one of your internal fans might be malfunctioning. Check fan functionality. Remember it is normal that your TEMP LED blinks continuously until it cools down…this could take up to 3 minutes.

Does the POWER LED indictor Blink continuously (FAST)?
If yes, temperature sensor near fan is too hot. Allow TV to cool down. Do not unplug from the wall!

Does the POWER LED indictor fail to come on?
If yes, replace lamp.

Philips 120W 1.3 UHP Lamp - OSRAM P-VIP 120/1.3 E23h

Nov 13, 2007 in Sony Projection LCD, RCA DLP Discussion, Samsung DLP Discussion, JVC D-ILA Discussion, Hitachi LCD Projection, Samsung Lamps, Philips LCOS, Zenith / LG Projection LCD, Panasonic Projection LCD

Do you have a projection TV with a bad lamp? Is the lamp inside your TV a Philips or OSRAM 100W, 1oo/120W, or a 120W lamp? Does it say 1.3 just after the wattage? If so, click here for the lowest price on an original replacement from Discount-Merchant.com

If you have an OSRAM lamp in your TV we highly recommend replacing that lamp with a Philips. It’s no secret Philips is the innovator of Ultra High Pressure (UHP) Mercury Lamps (created in 1995). The quality and dependability of Philips lamps are much greater than OSRAM, or any of the generic brands out there (LTI, APO, etc.. The combination of better “burners” and more advanced drivers (the ballasts) are a few reasons why Philips lamps outlast the competition.

In any case, if your lamp is a 100W, 100/120W, or 120W and looks like the lamps in the pictures below, we recommend purchasing this lamp from Discount-Merchant.com. Post questions and concerns!

Hitachi 42HDT20 42-inch plasma television:

Oct 31, 2007 in Hitachi LCD Projection

The Hitachi 42HDT20 is a flat pane l plasma television that uses the plasma technology and has a screen size of 42 inches when measured diagonally. the screen size seems to be very popular among most buyers even though the price of $9000 is not exactly inviting. And that too after a drop of more than $1000. The set offers a native display resolution of 1024 by 1024 and has an aspect ratio of 16:9. The silver cabinet of the set is quite attractive with a glossy black bezel. The set tips the scales at 86 pounds, which is quite reasonable considering the size.

The Hitachi 42HDT20 delivered quite a good performance even in a brightly lit room, which is not usual for a television using the plasma technology. The picture bright, sharp and gave high contrast picture even in the bright light. The vertical resolution of the set falls just short in case of 1080i input. It is possible that you will lose a little bit of the vertical image in such a case. A significant shift in the black levels after scene changes was the only noticeable problem. Overall, the performance of the Hitachi 42HDT20 was very superior for a set that uses the plasma technology. Just the price of the set may be a matter of concern for most of the buyers.

Hitachi P42H401 Ultravision 42 inch Plasma HDTV

Oct 26, 2007 in Hitachi LCD Projection

The Hitachi P42H401 is a high definition plasma television that uses the plasma technology and has a screen size of 42 inches when measured diagonally. This moderate screen size is one of the most preferred sizes among the people. The LCD’s already have the upper hand over the plasmas considering that the latter had a hard time fitting 1920 by 1080 pixels into a 42-inch screen size. As the first 1080p plasma came, a few months back, the market was already flooded with LCD’s having 1080p capability. These LCD’s are even cheaper than the plasmas and there is no guessing where the people are turning their heads.

The native display resolution of the Hitachi P42H401 is 1024 by 1080. Even though the horizontal resolution is much less than 1920, the vertical resolution ensures that the set will be referred to as a 1080p display. The resolution however is not progressive. The Hitachi P42H401 is priced around $1700 and it would be safe to say that this is Hitachi’s way of competing with the LCD’s. Not that the image is perfect right out of the box but calibration failed to make much of a difference to the image quality.

The set struggles a bit with the standard definition content. The darker images look a bit reddish. The green color point lacks the accuracy although this is something that I have noticed with most plasmas.

Hitachi 42HDT52 42 inch Plasma Television

Oct 01, 2007 in Hitachi LCD Projection

The Hitachi 42HDT52 has a 42 inch screen size when measured diagonally and uses the plasma technology. The cabinet looks fantastic with the all black design. The set comes with a table top swivel stand which is electric. This means that you can control the swivel by using the remote. Talk about fascinating features and I guess this one should top the list. Hitachi as such has been into the production of plasmas for a long time and knows the technology inside out which is certainly not a bad thing.

The depth of the set is around 4.25 inches is slightly more for a plasma but certainly not fat enough to make you pull your hair out. The full display resolution of the set is 1024 by 1024 which means that all input signals are scaled to fit the native resolution. The remote has plenty of features and thankfully is fully backlit which makes it easy to use in the dark. The colors were excellent although the reds were a bit more saturated. As most of the plasmas this set too suffers as the black levels fall short quite a bit.

Hitachi has loaded the set with plenty of features which help to give the user a better viewing experience. It is equipped with a digital as well as analog tuner. The provision of a CableCard slot eliminates the need to go for additional set top boxes for viewing cable TV. The two inbuilt speakers which are mounted inside the cabinet on both sides of the screen offer a total output of 40 watts along with the amplification.

Hitachi 32HDL51 32 inch LCD HDTV

Sep 27, 2007 in Hitachi LCD Projection

The Hitachi 32HDL51 is a high definition television having a 32 inch screen size when measured diagonally and uses the LCD technology. The cabinet has been elegantly designed with the use of a two tone color system. The screen is framed in black with aluminum stripes at the top and bottom edges. The stand, which is optional, is also made of aluminum. The designing errs in this case as the black parts of the cabinet are very shiny and tend to reflect any light falling on it. This can be very distracting especially in a bright room.

The native display resolution of the Hitachi 32HDL51 is 1366 by 768 although it processes the video in the high resolution 1080p format. As far as the performance is concerned, the Hitachi 32HDL51 is excellent. It produces highly detailed images with rich and vibrant colors. The contrast ratios too are commendable and the black levels are quite deep for an LCD television. Overall the set give more than an average performance.

The whole remote is backlit which makes it easy to use in the dark. The back panel of the set has a HDMI port as well as a CableCard slot which eliminates the need to go for additional set top boxes. The provision of the USB slot enables the user to view any videos or movies directly from a USB device such as the digital camera. To wrap it up the Hitachi 32HDL51 is certainly worth a look if you are looking for a moderately sized flat panel television.

Hitachi 43UWX10B 43-Inch HD Monitor

Sep 24, 2007 in Hitachi LCD Projection

The Hitachi 43UWX10B is a high definition monitor and has a 43 inch screen size when measured diagonally. It has an aspect ratio of 16:9 while that of its predecessor was 4:3. Hitachi seems to be adopting two different strategies while manufacturing large screen as well as the moderate screen sizes which are also more convenient in smaller or medium sized rooms or houses. This set belongs to the latter with a height of 39 inches and a modest depth of just over 20 inches. The sizes may not be too amusing but the set packs in plenty of features to make you take a closer look.

This rear projection HD monitor has most of the controls required to acquire a good picture. Out of the box the set offers a decent picture although calibration may be required to get the optimum output. The display is very sharp with very little noise although a higher resolution would have made a lot of difference to the performance. The set offers very high brightness which may even allow you to use it in your backyard.

The built in speakers are attached inside the cabinet at the bottom of the screen and offer very good quality sound. The speakers though could have been much better considering the amount of space at their disposal. The Hitachi 43UWX10B offers plenty of input interfaces to accommodate plenty of gadgets and still have a few empty slots for any further hookups.

Hitachi 50VX915 50-inch rear-projection LCD HDTV:

Sep 17, 2007 in Hitachi LCD Projection

The Hitachi 50VX915 is a rear projection high definition television and uses the LCD technology. It has a 50 inch screen size and is from Hitachi’s Directors Series. The thin and compact black cabinet of the set looks very stylish with the glossy finish. The input controls like the volume and the channel buttons are located at the side of the cabinet which gives the front of the cabinet a clean look. This keeps the controls out of sight yet very easily accessible. The wide screen format of the set has been designed to reducing the glare and reflections. Performance wise the Hitachi 50VX915 offers excellent picture with high level of details and high contrast. The black levels of the set too are quite commendable. The high native display resolution of the set enables it to display high definition content at 720p or 1080i. The USB port enables the user to view any pictures or videos directly from the USB device like the digital camera.

The three way speaker system of the Hitachi 50VX915 delivers high quality sound with a total output of 40 watts (20 X 2). The vertical stereo speakers attached to the cabinet give the set a touch of class. The depth of the set is just a little less than 16 ½ inches which may give you an idea of how compact the set really is. The universal remote has a very easy layout and the roll and click wheels offer easy navigation.
