Nov 07, 2007 in JVC D-ILA

The JVC HD 52G787 is a high definition television that uses JVC’s D-ILA technology and has a screen size of 52 inches when measured diagonally. The use of the D-ILA technology helps the set produce bright and sharp images. D-ILA stands for Direct drive Image Light Amplifier. It uses a three-chip system to produce images with high contrast. The D-ILA is quite a new technology and can be said to be JVC’s version of the LCoS technology. The cabinet of the JVC HD 52G787 although very simple is very stylish and looks very elegant. It is entirely black in color except for the JVC logo, which is silver.

JVC D-ILA HD-56FH96 56 inch HDTV

The JVC HD-56FH96 is a high definition television, which has a screen size of 56 inches when measured diagonally and uses JVC’s highly acclaimed D-ILA technology. The cabinet of the set has a very thin bezel and is fully black in color.

The JVC HD-56FH96 has a full display resolution of 1920 by 1080, which is also known as 1080p and is the highest native display resolution available today. Surprisingly though even if it can display 1080p, it does not accept the input signals at 1080p, which is a real disappointment. In this case, the input signals are upconverted to 1080p to be displayed with the full display resolution.

The colors produced by the set were outstanding in all the tests that were conducted. Although it was brilliant during a few of the tests, overall the set lacked consistency. Te picture was quite sharp but it was also very dark especially in the shadows and offered minimal details. The vertical viewing angles were also very narrow compared to most other sets. The remote is fully functional and has plenty of buttons to help the viewer get the best possible output. Thank fully all the buttons are backlit which makes the remote easy to use in the dark.

The set is priced at more than $3000. The fact that the set does not accept 1080p is too much of a void for it to fill and really does not offer much value for money.

JVC LT-32X776 32 inch LCD HDTV:

Sep 27, 2007 in JVC D-ILA

The JVC LT-32X776 is a high definition television and uses the LCD technology. The set has a 32 inch screen size an offers plenty of features. The high temperature color control offered the more accurate colors through component video as well as HDMI inputs. Out of the box the set offers highly accurate colors which can be measured to near about the 6500K mark. Even after the calibration the accuracy is not changed to a great extent which makes it unnecessary.

The JVC LT-32X776 is very bright which is not surprising for an LCD. This makes it ideal for viewing in the daytime or in a bright room. The set offers very wide viewing angles as is the case with most LCD’s. What makes this set better than other LCD’s is that the image becomes less saturated when you move away from the axis yet remains rich enough to be enjoyable. The set does have a few light uniformity issues with the upper right and lower left corners being brighter than the rest of the image. Although this should not make you lose your sleep as the effect is hardly visible under most conditions.

The native resolution of the set is 1366 by 768 and is equipped with ATSC and NTSC tuners. The use of the ATSC tuner makes the HD content look rich with vibrant colors and high amount of detail. The speakers are situated inside the cabinet at the bottom of the screen. Overall the JVC LT-32X776 is excellent especially if you can make the most out of the features.

JVC LT-46FN97 1080p LCD Flat Panel Television

Sep 25, 2007 in JVC D-ILA

The JVC LT-46FN97 is a 46 inch flat panel TV which uses the LCD technology. the cabinet of the set has been very well designed and is very attractive even without being flashy. The front side of the cabinet has been kept clean with the input interfaces being hidden under two removable panels at the sides. One of the panels covers the digital connections while the other covers the analog. The analog connections are located at the right side of the cabinet. This placement of the inputs reduces the interference of the leads in case you wall mount the set.

The JVC LT-46FN97 accepts high definition sources at 720p or 1080i. The Theatre mode produced the most natural images especially in subdued lighting while others modes seemed to be either too bright or too unnatural. The set has all the necessary controls required to improve the users viewing experience. The low color temperature offered reasonably accurate colors without compromising the sets otherwise very good performance. Although the black levels were not the best seem so far they were quite superior considering that the JVC LT-46FN97 is an LCD television.

A CableCard slot has also been provided with the set which eliminates the need to go in for additional set top boxes in case you are subscribing to cable TV. This LCD TV offers plenty of interfaces to hookup your devices to and yet have a few of them empty for any further additions.

JVC LT-37X987 37 inch LCD HDTV

Sep 25, 2007 in JVC D-ILA

The JVC LT-37X987 is a high definition television using the LCD technology. The first noticeable change (or feature as some may prefer to call it) is the effort that JVC have put-in in a bid to reduce the motion blur and to good effect too. it must be said though that JVC have not made the most of their superior technology.

The native resolution of the set is 1366 by 768. Although this resolution may not be the best with 1080p being the norm, for a 37 inch screen size having 1080p would not have been much of an advantage. The set also has a PC input which gives a maximum resolution of 1024 by 768 which should plenty of gamer’s screaming. The light output and the contrast ratio were reasonable for an LCD. These two factors resulted in the set producing deep black levels. JVC, though, will have a bit of work to do as far as the grayscale tracking is concerned. Even then the picture did not appear as bad as the measurements of the grayscale. The detail levels are very high and are better than most of the LCD televisions.

The remote is the standard JVC, having plenty of controls (53 to be precise) and yet just four of them are backlit. Ironically these four buttons are the ones that can be easily distinguished even in the dark. Can’t figure this one out!

D-ILA is more of an intermediate technology between the LCD and the DLP.

The set offers excellent contrast with high level of detail and rich colors. The dimensions of the set are 52 inches in width, just over 38 inches in height and 17 ½ inches in depth. The JVC HD-61Z886 is a high definition television which uses the JVC’s D-ILA technology and has a 61 inch widescreen when measured diagonally. The cabinet has been elegantly designed using a two color tone structure. The border around the widescreen is dark gray and a silver strip at the bottom of the screen is used to house the speakers. This positioning of the speakers at the bottom instead of the sides of the cabinet enables the manufacturers to decrease the width of the set by quite a few inches.

The designing of the set is albeit simple and clean. The control buttons and a few other inputs are located at the side of the cabinet which keeps them out of view but still easily accessible. The dimensions of the JVC HD-61Z886 is 57 ½ inches in width, 41 inches in height and 18 ½ inches in depth. The set tips the scales at 103 pounds which is quite reasonable considering the screen size.

The use of D-ILA technology helps the set deliver crisp images with high level of detail. The native resolution of the JVC HD-61Z886 is 1280 X 720 which is also called as 720p. This resolution will convert all incoming to 720p which is the maximum possible resolution. JVC LT-32X787 32” LCD HDTV

Sep 14, 2007 in JVC D-ILA

The JVC LT-32X787 is a 32” (measured diagonally) high definition television using the LCD technology. The size of the set is one of the most popular sizes among all classes and this may well be due to the fact that most people want to replace their CRT TV’s which are around 27”. The set is priced at around $1200 which makes it sit at the midlevel for its range of sizes. JVC has done well to break the pattern of making the cabinets all black. The silver and black cabinet has been modestly styled. The cabinet is predominantly silver with the black part used around the screen.

The dimensions of the set are 31.5 inches in width, 23.3 inches in height and 10.6 inches in depth and it tips the scales at 38.3 pounds including the stand. The huge JVC remote (almost a trademark) will not really earn too many accolades and packs too many buttons with similar functions in a haphazard manner. The extra (second) HDMI interface is certainly a huge asset which most people will be willing to pay more for.

The maximum display resolution offered by the JVC LT-32X787 is 1366 X 768 which is more than enough to show all the details at 720p. All the other input sources are scaled to fit the available pixels. It can be easily noticed the set showed the 720p resolution sources better and sharper than the sets having 1080i resolution. The overall performance of the JVC LT-32X787 was superb as it offered accurate colors for an LCD although the blacks were a little light.

JVC HD-70FN97 70-Inch HD-ILA HDTV:

Sep 12, 2007 in JVC D-ILA

To buy the lamp for this television click here.

The JVC HD-70FN97 is a 70 inch high definition television using the JVC highly acclaimed D-ILA technology. Believe you me if you are have started feeling that your 50 or 60 inch television set is too small then this set is what you are looking for. The huge size of the set makes any other set look tiny. It uses the D-ILA technology which is a variant of the LCOS technology and is more like a combination of the DLP and the LCD.

The set uses a three chip D-ILA system where each chip is used for the blue, red and green color production respectively. The native display resolution offered by the set is a full 1920 X 1080 which is also known as 1080p in which all incoming signals are scaled to fit the available pixels. The dimensions of the set are 64 inches in width, 46 inches in height and 20 ½ inches in depth. The weigh of the set is around 159 pounds. The placement of the speakers inside the cabinet at the bottom of the screen instead of at the sides has allowed the manufacturers to shave off quite a few inches of the width of the set.

As far as the performance of the JVC HD-70FN97 is concerned it is quite good even though it cannot be referred to as the best. The set offers excellent black levels which is one of the areas where projection televisions have been caught lacking. Although the better color accuracy was what I hoped for the set covers up its tracks by providing excellent high quality detailed and sharp images.
