Where do I purchase my DLP Lamp?

Jun 23, 2008 in Sony

You’ve researched all you could about your dead lamp. You’re quite confident you can install it yourself because 10 minutes and 4 screws doesn’t seem to be that hard (it really isn’t). Now all you need to do is find a reputable e-tailer or retailer.

Of course, we here at FixYourDLP.com recommend our site sponsor Discount-Merchant.com for all your DLP and LCD Lamp needs, but finding the right seller for your TV can be an emotional, or time sensitive matter.

Suppose you need the lamp today, maybe there’s some place in town where you can get it. Buying locally is definitely a great way to save time, if not money.

If you’re interested in saving money though, think about where you purchase your product. Take a look at the company website, the policies, and refund procedures. It’s not always the lamp, so you might want to return it should the lamp not be the cause. How much is shipping? Is shipping included? There are a lot of ways to sell a product and a lot of poor companies out there willing to sell you their product. Here are some tips to make sure the company is legit:

1. Does the company have a reputable website?
2. Does the company have full contact information? This must include a phone number and physical address.
3. Does the company offer “free” shipping? Free shipping is great, but you get what you pay for. Most companies that offer free shipping include it in their inflated product price.
4. Does the company have adequate information about the product… including model numbers and literature on how to install or repair?
5. Does the company push you to buy the lamp and not help troubleshoot your television?
6. Does the company offer you an amazing warranty plan? Sometimes when a warranty sounds too good to be true, you’ll end up paying for it.
7. Does the company offer authentic, OEM product?

Take these into consideration before buying online.

Flickering and very bright screen Samsung DLP HL-R5678W

Mar 05, 2008 in Member Questions, Sony

I have a Samsung DLP HL-R5678W,  when i turn on the TV the screen flickers (white flashes) and after about a minute the screen gragually turns very very bright (almost white) from the bottom of the screen to the top. I spoke to a tech, he said that it was the DMD board, which is very expensive $900-$1000.

Can anyone confirm this diagnosis or can I fix this with a simple lamp replacement?

Help!!!

Infocus Color Wheel

Mar 04, 2008 in Sony

I realize that there is no category for this question, but does anyone know where a Color wheel for the Infocus X1 projector can be purchased.  Infocus doesn’t sell them and I also don’t have confidence in them since I have already had them replace it under warranty.  It lasted a bit over a year on both wheels.  It produces an unbearable whine.

Thanks,

Ransome Welborn

Mitsubishi DLP Replacement GUIDE. Where is the lamp in my DLP TV?!?

Nov 30, 2007 in Sony

First of all, if you are looking for a replacement lamp for your Mitsubishi DLP TV, take a look at Discount-Merchant.com for the best possible price:
http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=mitsubishi+lamp

Now, where is your lamp located?  For some Mitsubishi’s, including the WD-52525, WD-52725, WD-62525, and WD-62725 models, it is located under the front speaker cover.  There are a few models where the lamp is located at the rear of the TV, but we will have a separate guide for those TVs later.

The following information is directly from Mitsubishi’s User Manual:
If you would like to download the two page guide, click here:

Replacing the Lamp Cartridge
Tool needed: Philips screwdriver

1) Turn the television off and unplug the AC Cord

2) Remove the plastic cover (this is the cover just below the screen that goes all the way across the front of the TV) and set aside with the screws.

3) Locate the lamp housing access door.  Using a philips screwdriver, remove the three screws (one on the left and two on the right side) that hold the recessed plastic cover in place.

4) Remove the plastic cover and set aside with the screws.

5) After removing the cover, you will be able to see the lamp cartridge.  With the scewdriver, loosen the three scews of the cartridge.  The three scews will not completely remove.

6) Gently grasp the metal handle and pull straight out (towards you). If you’re purchased a completely new enclosure continue to step #7.  If you are swapping out your old lamp in favor of a new lamp, visit http://guides.fixyourdlp.com and select the approperiate lamp guide.  Then continue to step #7 after swapping out lamps.

7) Insert the new lamp cartridge securely into the TV. Do not touch the glass surface of the cartidge.

8) With the screwdriver, tighten the scews on the lamp cartridge.

9) Replace the plastic cover and screws.

10) Snap the speaker grill back into place by pushing in into place on each side with the palm of your hand.

Philips 120W 1.3 UHP Lamp - OSRAM P-VIP 120/1.3 E23h

Nov 13, 2007 in Hitachi, JVC D-ILA, Panasonic, Philips, RCA, Samsung, Samsung Lamps, Sony, Zenith and LG

Do you have a projection TV with a bad lamp? Is the lamp inside your TV a Philips or OSRAM 100W, 1oo/120W, or a 120W lamp? Does it say 1.3 just after the wattage? If so, click here for the lowest price on an original replacement from Discount-Merchant.com

If you have an OSRAM lamp in your TV we highly recommend replacing that lamp with a Philips. It’s no secret Philips is the innovator of Ultra High Pressure (UHP) Mercury Lamps (created in 1995). The quality and dependability of Philips lamps are much greater than OSRAM, or any of the generic brands out there (LTI, APO, etc.. The combination of better “burners” and more advanced drivers (the ballasts) are a few reasons why Philips lamps outlast the competition.

In any case, if your lamp is a 100W, 100/120W, or 120W and looks like the lamps in the pictures below, we recommend purchasing this lamp from Discount-Merchant.com. Post questions and concerns!
