Samsung Power Issues

I have a Samsung HLR6167WX/XAA I absolutely love this TV it has a great picture for the size. I live in a rural area in FL where we are subject to afternoon storms and short power outages. Every time we have an outage even if it's for a few seconds I have to unplug the unit for an hour or so an it comes on just fine. It does not matter if the unit is on or not if there was a loss of power it has to be unplugged for awhile. I called Sears to have them find out what the problem could be. The Tech said that both power supply boards needed to be replaced. He quoted me a price that was more than I thought was reasonable so I paid for the service call only. I did some research on the power supply and found the capacitors in my unit were most likely the culprit. I called Samsung and ordered a new power supply but they only show one for my unit. I have replaced many parts such as Lamp Engine,Color Wheel ,Cooling fans..ect. I do NOT see a second power supply. I installed the new power supply from Samsung and still have the same issue. My thought is there may be something in the Digital Board. Could this be the second power supply the tech was speaking of? I do not want to replace something that I don't need. Is it possible Samsung sent me a new power supply with the same bad capacitors?

Any of your input would be greatly appreciated.

Some of these Tv's have an auxiliary power supply. I tried researching and trying to determine if yours does but wasn't able to find out. Check to see if you see one. Usually it will be smaller than the main power supply. Remember also these have a ballast which is what powers the lamp. So maybe this is what he meant by 2nd power supply. Right now the TV is dead completely ?

I think it's to Samsung's credit that they built into the brain of these sets, robust safety features. If anything is out of whack, these sets turn themselves off in order to protect the circuitry and components. The first thing I'd suggest you purchase is a very good surge protector. Voltage spikes during lightning storms can fry things in a hurry. Obviously, check to see that all of your capacitors are dead flat on top. Swapping out bulging capacitors is relatively easy and not very expensive. Just be sure you order the correct size, capacity and dimension when you order new ones (I have a box of mistakes that remind me to be more exact about what I need.) Like a lot of electronics, rebooting them usually fixes a lot of things, so disconnect all power, press the on button, wait a good 20 seconds and reconnect should do the trick. Buying and replacing a ballast and/or a power supply is pretty easy.

So don't be intimidated. I often think these sets were designed to be fixed by monkeys.

The TV is not dead. If I unplug it for an hour or so it works fine.
