Picture freezes and green tinited composite

I have been reading lots for things on the boards and need some advice.... so here goes
I have a HLS6188WX/XXA and have the following issues...
First it will freeze (sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes for few minutes) if I wait the picture returns. The sound continues to work, and the menu will not come up. There is no change in color, just looks as if I hit 'freeze', this happens on all inputs (composite and HDMI) From the reading I have done, it looks like I need to replace the DMD. This issue has been happening for sometime, but has gotten worse. Today, there is an additional problem...the composite and tuner inputs have a green tint. Tint may not be strong enough, it is green with a little picture showing faintly.

do you think that these two problems are related, or am I looking at the same problem?
Also has anyone replaced the DMD, and actually fixed the freezing problem? I don't have the $$ to spend replacing stuff till I fix it.
