HLN5065W won't start--Help!

Postby joel361 » Sun Jan 24, 2010 10:20 pm

Hello all,
Before I start buying parts for my Samsung HLN5065W DLP that just
this morning decided not to start up, I wonder if any informed party
might tell me what is wrong: the lamp will not come on and after I
push the remote start button I hear a click and then as the color
wheel starts there is a fairly loud high pitch whine for about two
seconds and then it shuts down and tries to start again repeating for about
a minute and then it gives up and just flashes all three led's on the
front base until I unplug the power to it.
Thanks in advance for any help

Joe

That’s definitely a color wheel problem. That high pitch sound is probably the bearing that’s worn out, you see in these TVs there are sensors all around and if one component fails that the whole TV shuts off for security measures.
My suggestion is you first buy a new color wheel (its either the gold baring or the silver one, so make sure which one you got in there). If you hear a 2 or more clicking sounds that is suspect the ballast is also faulty. And last but not least if your lamp is more that 2 years old that it will need replacing soon.
Hope this helps.
