HLN5065W buzz/roar when turned on

Ok, after fixing my HLN5065W DLP :D over a year ago using the data from this forum, I encountered the following this morning:

Turned on Set, all 3 LEDS started blinking (lamp failure)
Unplugged Set (I've had bogus 3-LED statuses due to power issues)
Applied power and tried to start set
Startup tones sound
LAMP LED lights like usual, blinking like it's waiting to startup
I get a LOUD buzz/roar not unlike an unbalanced fan on a server

Turned it off immediately and did not wait to see if I even get a picture

So, reading the forum, it could be
FAN
BALLAST
COLOR WHEEL

Any clue on how to determine which is the likely culprit? I am thinking the ballast, since I don't get a picture at all. Or will it roar that way if the bulb is bad?

I had a color wheel fail before, it was a very high-pitched "scream".
When I replaced the digital board March 2009, I cleaned the fan (but they were fairly clean)

Im leaning 90% toward the ballast.

:( That is what I was thinking also.

When I get the back off, I can safely bypass the interlock  and see if I can locate the sound a little closer.
With my luck the Ballast and the Color wheel are close enough together that I'm not easily going to be able to tell.

Since D-M has 32 of them listed, I suppose I need to find out which one I have to get the right part? :?:

Well, it was not the ballast.

It certainly looks like a color wheel kinda came apart. The bulb is fine, the rest of the set is a bit dustier than I remember from 15 months ago, but here is what I saw once I got the back off and started looking:

Think I can fix this one? a little epoxy, some duct tape...

If the color wheel blows apart like this, what are the chances the DLP engine is going to have glass particles cause more problems?

Hello, Well... You can take the lamp out of the suspect line up even though you have no image the lamp should still be good. (to make sure take lamp out and give it a thorough inspection, check for brown marks, white dots, cracks in the lense.
After you made sure about the lamp.
Find out if the buzzing is (mechanical) color wheel.
buzzing (electrical) ballast board.
P.S
Here's the link for the ballast.
