HLP6163WX/XAA ... Is this the color wheel?

Hi all,
I stumbled on this site and I love it so far. What a great resource!

Anyhow, I have this HLP6163WX / XAA and I think it has a bad color wheel.

I turned it on, the colors were flickering and incorrect so I turned it off.
I turned it back on:
The "lamp" light blinks.
I hear the "click"
I hear the "energizing" sound
then I here a whirr/buzz.... I get sound but no picture at all. I can feel the chassis vibrating.
The whir/buzz is loud, then it stops, then it starts again (like the set is retrying)
After three tries with the whir/buzz all three lights blink and I have to unplug it to get it to stop blinking.

If I plug it back in, it automatically attempts to turn itself on.
If I unplug it while the whir/buzz sound is happening I *think* hear a "spinning down" noise.

So I'm pretty sure this is the color wheel but I want to make sure I order the right part.
The color wheel prevents the lamp from turning on entirely?

While I have it taken apart I also intend to clean the mirror assembly. Is there anything else I should do while it's open?

Thanks in advance for all your help!!

it very well could be the color wheel, but the ballast fires up the lamp I think what I've read on this site is power supply, ballast, lamp picture something like that, in that order. I have the same model number as you do and I get no picture but sound is your tv hooked up HDMI? I was having issues and had a samsung repair center check it out and they diagnosed my tv with a bad Light Engine/optical block but if you're hearing a whizzing or buzzing it sounds like the color wheel just don't give up.

Finished the repair and everything went smoothly.

It was the color wheel.. one of the pie slices had shattered (and so the housing was full of fun little glass confetti!)

The replacement was very easy. The only thing that was annoying was that the color wheel assembly used two awkward square/Philips screws which were not easy to get out.

I will definitely remember this forum as a great TV resource in the future.
