I have had this TV for 7 years, replaced 4 lamps, 3 color wheels, and 1 board. The tv has been working great for about 18 months. All of a sudden it starts to flicker, at first its slight, then it gets progressively worse. I noticed it when i was playing XBOX, then i turned it to tv and it was fine. The next morning it was fine and didnt do it again until the evening. Today its started again on XBOX, but when i switched to tv it got worse. I initially thought it was the xbox, or even the connection. But since its doing it on a different input (i tried all of them), I'm curious as to what it is, and how much to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It would help to know HOW it's flickering, i.e; is it the picture flickering on/off, or is the picture constant, but flickering in colors? Is it a constant flickering, or intermittent? Since you've had this Sammy DLP for >7yrs, you may already know that certain kinds of flickering can be a bulb on it's way out, some can be due to an out-of-timing color wheel, while yet ANOTHER component that can cause flickering, is a ballast that can no longer provide constant voltage to the lamp. Now, if your bulb, and especially your color wheel have been changed recently, I'd say that after 7 years, it could very well be your ballast showing it's years. Fortunately, a ballast for your set will only set you back $65, and you can get one from Discount Merchant. (Link to follow...) A ballast is very easy to switch out, especially for someone who has changed their own color wheel before. ;)
