I have a SAMSUNG HLR5667W that turns off after a few minutes, then i can press the power button and it comes back on. sometimes it shuts off again right away. after 2 or 3 minutes of turning it back on it stays on. I tried to read thru a bunch of posts and some are similar but not the same.

I think it is over heating? but it is not on long. I was thinking about replacing the ballast but there are none in stock at DM. Can i use a different ballast for my tv? A ballast for a different model? if so which ones?

any other suggestions?

Are any of the lights blinking when it shuts off?

My HLR4667 acted the same way about a year after I got it (I have a different issue now). It would shut off by itself and I think three lights would blink, although I can't exactly remember the light sequence now. In the manual, the blinking lights indicated the the lamp door cover was open. The way I fixed it was very simple. I unscrewed the lamp cover (four screws on my unit) and worked the door switch (green on my unit) back and forth a few times, and then reseated the cover. Worked as designed for two or three years until the new issue popped up.

yes there are 3 red lights blinking on the bottom of the circle button.

Check you manual to see what those lights mean. May be as easy as reseating the door cover.

i don't have 1 to be honest.

took the back off, cleaned it out a bit. Reset the lamp counter, i did turn it on while the back was open to listen and look. I heard the ballast buzz a bit upon boot up but went away after 2 or 3 seconds. all fans were turning. Watch tv for about an hour with no shut down. I will test again tonight.

Just an update.

Since resetting the lamp meter and cleaning out the dust it has not shut down.
