I have a Samsung DLP, model HLS4266WX/XAA that I have had for 3 years. The TV is our main TV so it gets used a lot.
About a week ago, the color changed on the channel we were watching. I went to a couple of other channels and the same color problem was there. I powered off the TV, waited a few minutes and tried to power it on. The TV attempted to light the lamp (lamp LED was blinking) for a little while and failed. The TV power cycled itself (I assume trying to get the lamp lit) a few more times and eventually gave up, lighting all 3 LEDs and blinking.
I researched it (here) and determined that I needed to replace the bulb. I purchased a new assembly (lamp and housing), part number BP96-01472A and performed the very easy replacement (5 screws, pull old lamp out. slide new lamp in, 5 screws), plugged the TV in and turned it on. It tried once to fire the lamp, failed, tried again and it powered up. Picture was great.
4 hours later, while watching a program, the TV made a sound, the picture went black and the TV powered off. After a few minutes, I powered it back on and we went through the same sequence as the original problem. TV tries to fire the lamp, fails, retries and eventually gives up lighting all 3 LEDs and blinking them.
So, did I get a defective bulb? Is something else wrong? Help!
Thanks, John

Update: I returned the bulb to the store that I bought it and they tested it and said that it is working correctly. They said that either the color wheel or the ballast is bad.
Any way to figure out which one?

most likely the balast. normal if its the color wheel they make all kinds of sounds and you never would of got it up and working again. if you are handy check for bad solder joints in the balast. also check ebay for a used one you maybe able to save money. also check www.samsungparts.com

I can check for bad solder, but do ballasts go bad in time? I checked and a new one is $53.

Well this sucks.
I replaced the ballast almost 2 weeks ago and everything worked great until today.
Same thing happened. Watching the TV, suddenly it goes off and will not turn on again. 3 LEDs blinking.
So this thing has a new bulb AND a new ballast.
Any ideas? I am ready to take it to the landfill.

hrm. did the lamp blow again? did you set hte kind of lamp you have in the service menu? you can also set the watts and all of that in the service menu. were did you buy the lamp? also make sure the fans are working in case the lamps are over heating.
