My Samsung HLP5063W DLP TV needs a new lamp. TV was working but picture was dimm. Then one day
while watching picture went black but had sound, after 2/3 minutes TV shut down.Timer, standby/temp and lamp indicator lights were blinking.Indicating need new lamp.
I ordered a new lamp #BP96-00826A.Lamp came in I installed the lamp.Got no picture, but had sound.Back panal was in place.the three indicating light were blinking again, thought the new lamp might have been defected. So I reinstalled the old lamp.got a dimm picture but went black again same
as previously.Returned new lamp to the distributer, they said the lamp fired up.they're sending me a new lamp. In the mean time ,I read something about restting the Tv to prior factory settings.I tried it set lamp to 0hours.WOW!!! I thought I found the solution. The old lamp was brighter then before,Tv was working beautifully for about 5 minutes. Then POW the lamp exploded.
Please Help.
What went wrong?
I'm waiting for the new lamp to arrive.

Re: Samsung HLP5063w DLP TV Lamp exploded
Hello darock,
Here is what I believe happened :geek: , your ballast is weak as it is a consumable part in your tv, that being mentioned:
-once the ballast went weak your old lamp shut down as did your TV. :(
-your TV gave you 3 blinking lights NOT just the lamp indicator light, indicating a board is malfunctioning (or colorwheel). You ordered a new lamp thinking this would solve this. ;)
-When you tried the new lamp (note* the newer the lamp the more voltage it needs, normally around 15,000 volt ignition), since the ballast was weak it did not fire it up. :|
-At that point you put in the old more spent lamp that required a less charge to ignite and it worked for a minute. :?:
-You figured you would reset the lamp timer (telling the ballast to send the new lamp 15kv amount to the lamp) and this worked until the lamp over heated and EXPLODED (hopefully nobody was injured)!
-you are now awaiting another new lamp that will most likely give you the same results (unless the first new lamp was defective). :?
...if I am correct, I would change the ballast! :P
hope this helps!

welcome darock!
oh if you're starting to hear the screeching grinding of a colorwheel it is about to give out on you and that's why you are getting the blue error code in the front  ... just make sure it is not a fan first

Thanks Grayfox,
Is it the larger fan you're talking about. :?: It works
but I don't know if drawing enough heat away( ie cfms.)
can I get a PC fan from computer store?
So you're saying the colorwheel may be the reason blue led
does'nt stay on when tv is off.

Yup you are correct, as for the fan I am sure you can find one there are only a couple of fan manufacturers. If you wanted to purchase the original, they sell them by the set.
