Samsung DLP TV burnt out 3 lamps in 3 months!?!?!
My Samsung DLP TV has burnt out 3 lamps in 3 months. I got an original replacement lamp all 3 times from samsungparts.com. Every time I install a new lamp it works fine for about a month and then the lamp blows again. I have opened the tv up and cleaned out all of the dust and made sure the fans were working properly. Could there be something else causing these bulbs to go bad???

Hello,
wow this sounds expensive! The ballast is what generates power to the lamp ;) , I am assuming there is a malfunction with this part... :geek:
were all three lamps physically burnt when removed? :?:

Samsung DLP TV burnt out 3 lamps in 3 months
I have a Sony VPD-MX10 and the lamp burnt out. I bought a replacement lamp from Advanced Lamps and within 3 weeks the replacement burn out.
Any ideas why this would happen so quickly?

Hello,
It is really rare that this would happen, is the lamp physically damaged/defective??? or is it not an OEM brand lamp (Philips, Osram, etc) because if its generic it most probably did fail...

There is a known issue with some of the DLP series burning lamps, the solution recommended by Samsung is to replace SMPS, Ballast along with the lamp.
this typically applies to all DLPs that use the BP44-01001a or BP44-01002a Power Supply.

hello samsungtech,
by "SMPS" et all, you mean this problem can only be fixed completely by changing the power supply, ballast and the lamp??? thank you!

Sorry SMPS just means switch mode power supply which is what most of Samsung TVs use. The power supply PCB is what I was referring to.
