Hey I'm no expert but on my projector if the lamp cover is not properly tightened it won't turn. I suspect the RPTV cover works the same way. You just changed your lamp right? Maybe check the cover. Also did you use an OEM lamp with your set? I had a lot of trouble with my generic dlp lamps. Caused me all kinds of headaches and messed up my projector. I was sorry I didn't go with an OEM manufacturer like Discount Merchant. Try checking the lamp cover. Wish I was more technical and could help out with this problem.

The lamp cover seems to be ok. As far as the lamp goes i would have to look to see if i purchased a factory lamp or not, from what i am seeing that does make a difference. Thanks for your help!!

Hello Pauly,

It is tricky once you change your entire light engine and it doesn't solve the problem, did you do this yourself? For this Toshiba 44NHM84 RPTV you should have used the lamp TBL4-LMP or lamp code AZ684020. Where was this bulb ordered from?

Please let me know, I hope I can help you diagnose it further.

THE TELEVISION WORKED PERFECTLY AFTER I INSTALLED THE LIGHT ENGINE, I AM TRYING TO FIND THE ORIGINAL INVOICE FOR THE BULB. (IT DOES LIGHT FOR APPROX 4 SECONDS ON STARTUP SO THE BULB IS FUNCTIONING).

Jpauly,

Just because the lamp lights for 4 seconds doesn't make it a good lamp... Do you remember where you ordered the lamp from?

The generic lamps have issues exactly as you are describing! Can you pull the lamp out and see if it has any markings on it? The bulb itself should have a Philips stamping on there if it is an original TBL4-LMP lamp for the Toshiba 44NHM84... I have had generic lamps go bad within seconds (and pop) or after weeks or months. The issue with these is the inconsistency that causes troubleshooting really difficult.

A good indication of what type of TBL4LMP lamp you ordered is the price.. If you paid between $35-$65 for the lamp, then it most likely is a generic / low-quality lamp..

If you paid $65-$120 for the replacement TBL4-LMP lamp, then it may be an original lamp.. but even then, there are people on online marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay selling counterfeits and bait/switching on people who don't know the difference...

I would start there before tearing your Toshiba 44NHM84 DLP TV up again to find out the issue was an inferior lamp to begin with.
