DMD Board Replacement - HL-P6163W

Postby kbertelli » Mon Dec 14, 2009 4:43 pm

Morning All,
I was wondering if someone could assist me with removing my light engine to get the part number off of the DMD board. After several chats, phone calls and conversations I have decided to replace the DMD board or possibly the whole light engine. I took the back panels off and I can see the assembly, but I don't want to dig in yet until I get some more detail on the removal. Can anyone provide pictures or video regarding the removal and/or replacement of the assembly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kris

lets start off with what is the issue with our tv? wont power on? lines on the screen? white dots? knowing the issue may help us here since we have seen a lot of issues.

The TV powers on and I have a blank screen. I can see the lamp lit in the back and there is just a very faint glow on the screen, no images. I have full audio. I can't see any menu functions on the screen when I push the menu button.

it is most likely the dmd board like you said. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't one of the issues samsung fixes for free.

UPDATE - I replaced the DMD board and got the tv working. I just have one issue now. The picture appears to be about 1 inch too high. The top 1 inch of the picture is cut off and the bottom 1 inch is black. Does anyone have any input on this issue?

yeah. need to have the back off tape down the safty switch. loosen the screws on the dmd board but dont remove them. have a mirror to look into or have someone on the other side that can tell you as you move it a little when it alines up and hold it there well you tighten the screws. get it as close as you can. then have the tv off hit mute 1 8 2 power and you can ajust the screen to the left and right and up and down in one of the menu's.

Awesome tip! I actually fixed the alignment without having to go into the service menu. Fine tuning was done with little taps on the loose board while wife watched the front. Now I have a new issue. This morning, when I powered on the TV with the remote, the lamp light flashed like it normally does at startup, but it just kept flashing and never came on. I couldn't turn the tv on or off with the remote or the power button on the front. I unplugged the power cord and plugged it back in and the tv came on fine and is currently working great with no picture, sound or other issues. Does anyone have any advice on this one?

I have no idea on that one. sounds like one of the boards but it could be any of them.
