Samsung crackling noise
I have a Samsung DLP S5086S that makes crackling noise after it is on for a while. I have muted the set and it still makes the noise. Worst of all, I can turn the set off and the crackling still goes on. Help?
Re: Samsung crackling noise
Hey Melisa, It really does sound like crackling or popping and it just freaks me out that I can turn the set off and the noise is still there. When I turn on the surround sound it still does it. Sounds like it is in the set, not the speakers.
Re: Samsung crackling noise
Yes I can feel it when touching the set. It's not vibration but more like hot oil crackling almost like a fire crackling sound.

Re: Samsung crackling noise
Hello,
First post here. I too am have been experiencing the crackling noise. I have had my Samsung DLP since 2006 and have not had any issues until recently. Here is what happens. I will be watching the TV for 20 minutes or so and then a loud crackling sound happens (like fire crackers) and I lose all sound. This happens to me on multiple inputs (HDMI, Component, AV). The crackling sound is coming from the TV itself as the volume setting has no impact on the crackling sound. I have tried factory resets based on some other forum advice, which did not work. It is almost like something is overheating, but why now after I have been using this TV without any issues for the past 5 years?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tim

Product Information
Model Number : HLS4266WX/XAA
Serial Number : B19V3CML701584X
I have not replaced the original lamp yet. On the service menu I did see it has just over 3,000 hours (if I am reading that menu correctly).
