i have a 5 yr old 62 samsung dlp hl-p6163w. last night it sounded like something popped, picture went out and is making a loud humming noise. we have replaced the lamp last year and the lamp looks ok. please help!

A pop is an indicator of your lamp imploding (exploding inwards), if you take the lamp out you will be able to see if this is true if there are shards of glass inside the lamp. A humming sound is usually a symptom of one of two things: a bad colorwheel or weak ballast, both which may cause your lamp to shut off.
A colorwheel is what provides color to your t.v. screen, it is a wheel that spins at high revolutions and if there is anything obstructing that movement (like dust, or a crack) it will cause it to make that sound and possibly shut your lamp off.
The ballast is what ignites and drives current to the lamp, eventually the ballast will grow weak needing to be replaced or it will no longer be able to either ignite the lamp or keep it on.

I have a Samsung 52inch tv. When I turn the tv on I have sound but no picture.. The lamp light comes and I hear a loud humming noise comming from the back of the tv. Any suggestions

hello, It seems like I’m now having the same problem with my Samsung.
I bought a new lamp assembly thinking that was going to fix my problems but the TV still won’t turn on and also has a loud sound coming from the back fan area. Was just wondering what it was that was wrong with yours…

Our 50 inch dlp is out. We just bought bulb from DM and installed it and no change. NO picture still. We hear a humming/buzzing from the tv when we turn it on. We need to know which part to try next? Color wheel? Ballast? We need help. Of course it goes out right before the super bowl and my husband is a huge Steelers fan………just our luck. It’s 4 years old by the way.
