I have a '05 HDLP61W151 DLP TV. Recently a vertical transparent dark band appeared on right side of screen. I have separated DLP module from lamp housing and find the lamp housing exit glass is diagonally broken. The glass piece measures 0.75" square, 0.038" thick. The color wheel is located between this glass piece and a rectangular optic, part of DLP light engine.
Does anybody know the type of glass used or source for replacement?
Does anybody know what may cause vertical stripe on right side of screen?
thank you

Re: 61" RCA DLP lamp housing light exit glass broken
Hello,
it really depends if this lens is lenticular or just plain glass, either way I was not able to find a replacement part and I would not suggest you "replacing" it with a part just made to those size specs. maybe if you contact RCA you can find out if they sell this part separate and skip having to order the complete engine. The band projected on the screen is most surely caused by this crack in the lens.
Hope this helps!
