NORMAL DISCLAIMER:
— Do NOT purchase generic brand lamps such as LTI, APO or third-party manufacturers such as OSRAM. These lamps were NOT engineered with and for your TV…only your Philips lamp has been engineered to work flawlessly and output the best possible color. Above that, it just doesn’t make sense to choose an aftermarket lamp for a $5-$10 difference (and in many cases they are more expensive!!). Be a smart consumer and do your research! Discount-Merchant.com promises to be the low price leader in all Projection TV Lamps they carry…if this is not true, let us know and we’ll fix it!

Necessities:

1. A Torx T9 screwdriver
2. A Phillips screwdriver
3. A Pair of Pliers
4. A new Philips Lamp
5. Philips Lamp Adapter or Small Lamp Adapter (if you need one)
6. 15 minutes of your time

IMPORTANT: The bulb should be handled with a clean cloth at all times to avoid any dirt or oil. Our hands are naturally oily…this is a no-no for these lamps. It doesn’t hurt to do a final wipe with a clean, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth before reinstalling your lamp…

Here is the RCA Lamp Enclosure, please feel free to click on any image to enlarge! We are replacing a small PHILIPS bulb with the Lamp Adapter in these photos.. you may have a BIG PHILIPS or OSRAM bulb in your original enclosure... So don't worry if your lamp looks bigger! It's the same procedure, but the small vented lamp will give you more reliability and durability!

Step 1: First, we want to separate the lamp housing where the connector is located. This will allow us to get to the posts of the lamps easier. Here we go:

Press down on the area shown in the photo below with your left thumb... Be carefull not to break the enclosure! It should pop right out..

Remember not to mix up the bad bulb and the good bulb! Sometimes it is very hard to tell the difference between a bad lamp and a good lamp. If you get mixed up you will have to physically try both lamps in your TV.

***Technicians: Don't bother checking for CONTINUITY becuase ALL UHP LAMPS WILL FAIL CONTINUITY TESTS as the lamps have a "firing gap" in the filament (similar to a car's spark plug).

Now let's put it all back together and watch some TV! We start by puting the NEW Lamp + Adapter in place and replacing those torx T9 screws...

Now let's connect the terminals back on to the lamp and close up the enclosure!

NOTE: Be careful when screwing-in the side connector on to your new lamp. It’s best to hand torque as this terminal is very sensitive and might break with a lot of torque.
