Necessities:
1. A Phillips screwdriver
2. A Pair of Pliers
3. A new Philips Lamp
4. 15 minutes of your time
NOTE: The bulb should be handled with a clean lint-free cloth at all times to avoid any dirt or oil. Our hands are naturally oily…The oil residue from our hands can cause premature failure of the lamp if the front side of the lamp is not wiped down after the installation. It doesn’t hurt to do a final wipe with a clean, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth before reinstalling your lamp…

This guide is for the Sony XL-2000. Make sure you've got the right lamp. |
You'll need the tools mentioned above. |
Examine the enclosure. |
Identify the screws holding the metal housing in place. We'll get that off first. |
Use the Philips screw drive to remove the top metal and plastic piece. |
There should be two of these screws. |
Pull the two pieces apart. |
You'll see the wires are still attached to the connection and the terminals. |
Use your pliars to remove the nut from one of the terminals on the lamp. |
Loosen the scerw from the terminal. |
Remove both wires, and move them so they are out of the way. |
Remove the wire clamp holding the lamp in place. Pinch inward. |
Pull down, then up. |
You can now dismount the lamp. |
This is what it should look like at this point. |
Now we have to remove the lamp from the cover. |
This is easily done with your screw driver. |
At this stage, you should have quite a few pieces laying about--DON'T LOSE THEM! |
Install the new lamp and reverse the proceedure. |
Place the lamp and front cover back into the housing. |
Make sure the lamp fits in properly, then reattach the wire clamp. |
Hand tighten the nut to the terminal after attaching the wire to the end of the lamp. |
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. Excessive torque can break the terminal. |
Your front piece is complete, so set it back into the rest of the housing. |
This is what your lamp should look like when it's complete. |
Top view, showing the ballast connector. |
This is the back side of the enclosure. |
The lamp should fix snug into the enclosure, and you should be able to see it. |

IMPORTANT: The bulb should be handled with a clean cloth at all times to avoid any dirt or oil. Our hands are naturally oily…this is a no-no for these lamps. It doesn’t hurt to do a final wipe with a clean, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth before reinstalling your lamp…
