Solve white death syndrome with a new 4719-001997 DLP Chip

The white spots on your Mitsubishi WD-65835 are caused by the DLP chip being worn out. Known as Mitsubishi white death syndrome, this problem can be solved by installing a new Mitsubishi/Toshiba 4719-001997 DLP Chip 1910-6143W.

needle nose pliers or a 5mm nut driver
antistatic gloves OR plastic gloves used with an antistatic wrist band

How to replace the 4719-001997 DLP Chip

Step 1

Step 1: Put on the plastic gloves. Loosen all the screws found on the back panel.

Step 2: Put the screws to the side. Gently remove the back panel.

Step 3

Step 3: Remove the 3 screws holding the lamp engine in place.

Step 4

Step 4: Disconnect all the connectors. Important: don’t yank any cables.

Step 5

Step 5: Carefully slide the light engine from the cabinet.

Step 6

Step 6: Remove the 3 screws holding the color wheel protective cover in it place. Avoid touching any of the optical components as this can affect the quality of your picture.

Step 7

Step 7: Carefully disconnect the cable between the terminal board and lamp.

Step 8

Step 8: Disconnect the cables connecting the color wheel.

Step 9

Step 9: Loosen the 3 screws holding the cooling unit/fan to the terminal board.

Step 10

Step 10: Remove the cooling unit.

Step 11

Step 11: Loosen the 2 screws holding the terminal cover in place. (Good time to dust this section).

Step 12

Step 12: Loosen the 10 screws holding the terminal in place.

Step 13

Step 13: Carefully pop the terminal out of its holder.

Step 14

Step 14: Unlock the old DLP Chip from the terminal. You may need to loosen the screw on the side or use a flat edged screwdriver to pop it out.

Step 15

Step 15: Place the new DLP chip into place. Handle the DMD DLP CHIP only by the edges because it is very sensitive to antistatic electricity.

Step 16

Step 16: Put the terminal back into its holder.

Step 17

Step 17: Tighten the 10 screws holding the terminal in place.

Step 18

Step 18: Tighten the 2 screws on terminal board’s cover.

Step 19

Step 19: Put the fan unit back on.

Step 20

Step 20: Tighten the 3 screws holding the cooling unit/fan to the terminal board.

Step 21

Step 21: Reconnect the cables connecting the color wheel.

Step 22

Step 22: Reconnect the cable between the terminal board and lamp.

Step 23

Step 23: Replace the color wheel protective cover and tighten the 3 screws.

Step 24

Step 24: Re-connect all the cables running from the terminal board and light engine.

Step 25

Step 25: Carefully place the light engine back inside the unit. Tighten the 3 holding the terminal board and light engine in place.

Step 26

Step 26: Put the back panel back onto the TV.

Step 27

Step 27: Tighten all the screws on the back panel. Enjoy your crisp, clear picture on your Mitsubishi WD-65835 RPTV.

Follow our quick guide for hassle free installation of a new BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 projector lamp.

You can expect up to 3000 hours from the BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 projector lamp before it needs to be replaced in the BenQ MP525/MP525P projector.

The importance of buying authentic

In order to keep your BenQ MP525/MP525P projector working properly, you must install a genuine BenQ 5J.J0A05.001. Avoid generic knock-offs or lamps advertised as “compatible.” Although they appear to be a great bargain, generic lamps actually have a shorter life span and give off poor illumination. These lamps are prone to explosion and have been created using toxic substances such as Krypton-85. Using a counterfeit generic lamp will void any warranty for your BenQ MP525/MP525P projector.

Buying from an authorized seller of genuine projector lamps ensures installation of a lamp created with the proper components and workmanship that works properly with the key components in your projector. Knowing when to replace the BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp

To obtain the lamp hour information:

Press Menu/Exit and then press the arrow key to highlight the SYSTEM SETUP: Advanced menu.
Scroll to Lamp Settings and press Mode/Enter. The Lamp Settings page is displayed showing the Equivalent Lamp Hour information appearing on the menu.
You can also get the lamp hour information on the INFORMATION menu.

Warning Messages:

First Warning: The BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp has been in operation equivalent to 2500 hours. Install a new BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp for optimal performance. If you are using Econo Mode the lamp life will be extended to 2950.

Second Warning: The BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp has been in operation equivalent to 2950 hours. A new BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp should be installed.

Third Warning: The BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp has been in operation equivalent to 3000 hours. You may notice the brightness of the lamp diminishing significantly. It should be replaced immediately.

Final Warning: The BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp has reached end of life and the projector will not turn on until it’s been replaced. Replace the BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamps immediately.

Replacing the BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp

Before changing the lamp:

Reduce the risk of electrical shock by disconnecting the power cord on the MP525/MP525P projector.
Reduce the risk of severe burns by allowing the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes.

To replace the BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp:

1. Protect the BenQ MP525/MP525P projector’s top surface by placing it face down on a soft surface. Turn the projector over and loosen the screws on the lamp cover.

2. Remove the lamp cover. Be careful not to insert your fingers between the BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp and the projector as there are sharp edges that can cause injuries.

3. Loosen the screw holding the BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp in place. A magnetic-head screwdriver will make it easier to remove the screw.
4. Pull out the lamp connector from a slot in the lamp compartment. Disconnect it from the BenQ MP525/MP525P projector.

5. Using the wire handle, slowly pull the BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp out of the projector. Never force the lamp out; pulling too quickly can cause the bulb to shatter. Learn what to do should the bulb shatter.

6. Reconnect the lamp connector. Put the BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp back into its slot so that it is flush with the BenQ MP525/MP525P projector.

7. Tighten the screw that secures the BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp. A loose screw may cause a bad connection while a over tightened screw may cause the lamp to not work. Ensure the wire handle is fully flat and locked in place.

8. Replace the lamp cover on the BenQ MP525/MP525P projector.

9. Tighten the screws that secure the lamp cover and restart the projector to reset the lamp timer.

NOTE: The BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps! If you bought from an authentic manufacturer they will recycle the lamp for you at no extra cost (another reason to buy authentic lamps).

Resetting the lamp timer

It’s important to set the lamp timer so the BenQ MP525/MP525P can accurately track the life of the newly installed BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp.

After the start-up logo, press Menu/Exit
Scroll down to SYSTEM SETUP. Press Enter.
Scroll down to the Advanced menu.
Press to highlight Lamp Settings.
Press Mode/Enter to display the Lamp Settings page.
A warning message is displayed asking if you want to reset the lamp timer. Highlight Reset and press Mode/Enter.
The lamp time will be reset to “0”.

Do not reset if the lamp is not new or replaced as this could cause damage.

Extend the life of the BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp:

Keep your air filters clean to avoid overheating the BenQ MP525/MP525P projector.
Setting Lamp Power to Economic Mode. To set the Econo Mode: Go into the SYSTEM SETUP: Advanced > Lamp Settings > Lamp Mode.

3 Steps to a new BenQ MP515 projector lamp

Follow our 3-step guide when it’s time to replace the BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 projector lamp in the BenQ MP515 projector.

Step 1: Know when to replace

You can expect up to 3000 hours from the BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 projector lamp. Don’t leave replacing the projector lamp to the last minutes or you may have a projector that will not turn on.

To see projector lamp hour information:

Press Menu/Exit and then press the arrow key to highlight the SYSTEM SETUP: Advanced menu.
Scroll to Lamp Settings and press Mode/Enter. The Lamp Settings page is displayed showing the Equivalent Lamp Hour information appearing on the menu.

Step 2: Finding the correct lamp

It can be confusing finding the correct BenQ 5J.J0A05.001 lamp for your BenQ MP515 projector. There are hundreds of website selling projector lamps but most of there lamps are knock-off generic lamps that you should avoid at all costs.

Generic “compatible” lamps may appear to be a bargain–however generic knock-off lamps are actually not that great a bargain.These are NOT authentic lamps and should be avoided for the following reasons:

Third Message: The BenQ 5J.08001.001 lamp has been in operation for 3000 hours. It is strongly recommended that you replace the lamp at this age.

Final Message: Lamp-usage time exceeded. The BenQ 5J.08001.001 lamp MUST be replaced before the projector will operate normally.

Step 8: Disconnect the cables connecting the color wheel.

Step 9: Loosen the 3 screws holding the cooling unit/fan to the terminal board.

Step 10: Remove the cooling unit.

Step 11: Loosen the 2 screws holding the terminal cover in place. (Good time to dust this section).

Step 12: Loosen the 10 screws holding the terminal in place.

Step 13

Step 13: Carefully pop the terminal out of its holder.

Step 14: Unlock the old DLP Chip from the terminal. You may need to loosen the screw on the side or use a flat edged screwdriver to pop it out.

Step 15: Place the new DLP chip into place. Handle the DMD DLP CHIP only by the edges because it is very sensitive to antistatic electricity.

Step 16

Step 16: Put the terminal back into its holder.

Step 17

Step 17: Tighten the 10 screws holding the terminal in place.

Step 18

Step 18: Tighten the 2 screws on terminal board’s cover.

Step 19

Step 19: Put the fan unit back on.

Step 20

Step 20: Tighten the 3 screws holding the cooling unit/fan to the terminal board.

Step 21

Step 21: Reconnect the cables connecting the color wheel.

Step 22

Step 22: Reconnect the cable between the terminal board and lamp.

Step 23

Step 23: Replace the color wheel protective cover and tighten the 3 screws.

Step 24

Step 24: Re-connect all the cables running from the terminal board and light engine.

Step 25

Step 25: Carefully place the light engine back inside the unit. Tighten the 3 holding the terminal board and light engine in place.

Step 26

Step 26: Put the back panel back onto the TV.

Step 27

Electric Philips screwdriver
needle nose pliers or a 5mm nut driver
antistatic gloves OR plastic gloves used with an antistatic wrist band
soft cloth or brush

How to replace the 4719-001997 DLP Chip

Step 1: Put on the plastic gloves. Loosen all the screws found on the back panel.

Step 3: Remove the 3 screws holding the lamp engine in place.

Step 4

Step 4: Disconnect all the connectors. Important: don’t yank any cables.

Step 6: Remove the 3 screws holding the color wheel protective cover in it place. Avoid touching any of the optical components as this can affect the quality of your picture.
