End of projector lamp warnings

When the lamp light on the Dell 3400MP blinks amber, it’s time to replace the projector lamp. The message “Lamp is approaching the end of its useful life in full power operation. Replacement suggested!” will also appear on screen.

Don’t wait too long to change the lamp. Pushing it too far can result in the lamp making a loud popping noise before burning out. When the message “Lamp Defective” is on screen the Dell 3400MP projector will not turn on.

Replacing the Dell 3400MP projector lamp

Before replacing the Dell 310-6747 projector lamp be sure to turn the projector off and disconnect from the AC plug. Let the projector cool down for at least 30 minutes. It should be cool to the touch. Don’t attempt to change the lamp when the projector is still hot as there is a good chance you can get severely burned.

Place the Dell 3400MP on a soft surface and turn in upside down to access the projector lamp cover. Loose the two screws that hold the projector lamp cover in place.
Loosen the two screws that secure the projector lamp.
Pull the projector lamp up by its metal handle. Pulling too quickly can cause the bulb to shatter. NOTE: Don’t throw the Dell 310-6747 projector lamp into regular garbage! Since it contains mercury, this lamp must be properly recycled.
Install the new Dell 310-6747 projector lamp making sure it is properly aligned into the projector.
Tighten the two screws that secure the Dell 310-6747 projector lamp.
Replace the projector lamp cover and tighten the two screws.
You are now ready to reset the lamp timer.

Reset the Dell 3400MP projector lamp counter

The Dell 3400MP projector tracks the life of the Dell 310-6747 projector lamp and will trigger the warning signals when it’s time to replace. Each time you replace the Dell 310-6747 projector lamp you must reset the lamp timer to zero. Failure to do so can result in using the projector past its recommended lifespan.

To access the Main Menu press the left or right buttons on your projector’s control panel or remote control.
Scroll over the the LAMP Menu. Press ENTER to access.
Scroll down to the Lamp Reset icon. Press ENTER.
Scroll down to choose YES and press ENTER to reset the projector lamp timer.

Every 24 hours, turn off the projector and let it stand for 1 hour

Replacing the projector lamp

The Dukane 8063 projector uses the Dukane 8063 projector lamp. Before installing a new projector lamp do the following safety steps:

Reduce the risk of electrical shock by disconnecting the power cord on the projector.
Reduce the risk of severe burns by allowing the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes. It should be cool to the touch.
Protect the Dukane ImagePro 8063 projector’s top surface by placing it face down on a soft surface. Turn the projector over and loosen the screws on the lamp cover.
If the projector is mounted on the ceiling, be sure to check that the lamp has not exploded inside. Turn the projector over so the bottom is facing up.
Unhook the claws on the lamp cover using a screwdriver. Slide the lamp cover off and put it to one side.

Loosen the two screws holding the Dukane 8063 projector lamp in place.
Slowly lift out the lamp using the side handles. NOTE: Be sure to recycle the Dukane 8063 projector lamp as contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage.
Insert the new lamp, tightening the two screws.
Interlock the two tabs on the cover to the projector. Position the lamp cover on the projector
Push the center point of the two claws to fix the lamp cover back onto the projector.
Slowly turn the projector so that the top is facing up.
Turn the projector on, and reset the lamp timer

To reset the lamp timer

Press the MENU button on the remote control or one of the cursor buttons on the projector.
Scroll down to OPTIONS. Press Enter to choose.
Use the arrow key to move to the right hand menu.
Scroll down to choose LAMP TIME.
Use the up arrow button to select RESET.
The lamp hours will be reset to zero.

When to replace?

The Sony KDF-55E2010 projector lamp should last up to 8,000 hours depending on how much you use the TV. When the lamp is reaching end of life, you will see a message on screen reminding you to replace it and the Lamp indicator on the TV will start flashing. Other end of life signs may also include darker images on screen and colors that look off. You may hear a noticeable popping and this is normal. When it’s time to replace the lamp, the screen may dim and the color balance of the picture goes off. Replace the projection lamp immediately.

To replace the LCD projection lamp

Perform there safety steps before installing the new lamp:

Turn off the power on the main unit.
The cooling fan will continue to operate for two minutes after the power is turned off.
Wait several minutes before unplugging the power cord.
Wait an additional 30 minutes to allow the lamp to cool down. The lamp operates under extreme so avoid touching it before changing the lamp.

Take the new Sony XL-2400 projection lamp out of the box. Don’t shake the lamp as vibrations can damage the lamp. Avoiding touching the glass portion on the lamp as the oil from your fingers can burn black marks on the lamp.

Remove the outside Sony XL-2400 projection lamp cover. Turn the knob counterclockwise to open. Pull out the cover.

Pull out the Sony XL-2400 projection lamp by first hooking a finger through the loop of the lamp handle and pulling the handle upwards. Then pull the Sony XL-2400 lamp straight out.

Put the new Sony XL-2400 projection lamp into its place. Mount the new lamp securely or the self-diagnostic function will be triggered. A lose lamp can also cause the screen to go dark.

Remove the two screws holding the Boxlight XP5T-930 projector lamp in place.

NOTE: Be sure to recycle the Boxlight XP5T-930 projector lamp as contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle it!

Insert the new Boxlight XP5T-930 and avoid touching the actual bulb as this can result in black spots from the oil on your hands.

Tighten the two screws on the Boxlight XP5T-930 projector lamp. Place the cover back onto the Boxlight SP5t-930 projector and tighten the lamps screw. You must now reset the lamp timer.

Resetting the SP5t-930 lamp counter

Once the Boxlight XP5T-930 projector lamp has been replaced, you will need to reset the lamp counter so the Boxlight SP5t-930 projector can accurately track the number of lamp hours remaining:

Turn the projector on, and press the MENU button and the ON-SCREEN MENU will appear. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT buttons to select SETTING and press the SELECT button.
Another dialog box SETTING MENU will appear.
Press the POINT DOWN button and a red-arrow icon will appear.
Move the arrow to Lamp age, and then press the SELECT button. The message “Lamp replace monitor Reset?” is displayed.
Select [Yes] to reset the Timer.

Replacing the projector lamp

Before replacing the 3M MP8670 projector lamp, follow these safety steps:

Wait until the projector is cool to the touch before removing the lamp. These projector work at a high temperatures and you can get badly burned.
Be sure to unplug the projector before replacing the 3M 78-6969-8919-9 EP1635 lamp.

NOTE: The 3M 78-6969-8778-9 projector lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle this lamp.

The 3M MP8670 projector lamp access door is located on the bottom of the projector. Turn over the projector onto a soft surface to loosen the screw holding the cover in place.
Remove the cover. Place it to one side.
Unscrew the two projector lamp screws. Grasp the lamp module with one hand and the projector body with the other hand. Carefully slide the lamp module out. Take care not to bang the actual 3M 78-6969-8919-9 EP1635 lamp or it may break. Learn how to do a proper clean up if the lamp breaks or explodes.
Insert the new 3M 78-6969-8919-9 EP1635 projector lamp. Tighten the two screws on the new projector lamp.Being careful not to touch the actual bulb as the oil from your fingers will burn black marks when the lamp heats up. Re-install the 3M MP8670 projector lamp cover.

Reset the lamp timer

After changing the 3M 78-6969-8919-9 EP1635 projector lamp you need to reset the lamp timer so the 3M MP8670 projector will turn back on. To reset:

To display the total lamp hours, press and hold for 3 seconds, the RESET button on the projector or Timer button on the remote control.

To reset the lamp timer, press the RESET button on the projector or MENU button on the remote while the total lamp hours are displayed. Use the arrow button on the projector or remote to select ZERO or CANCEL.

Extend the 3M MP8670 projector lamp life

Keep your air filters clean to avoid overheating the projector.
Turn off the 3M MP8670 projector projector projector and let it stand for at least one hour ever 24 hours. An average use of four to five hours per day will ensure longer lamp life.

Know when to replace

Installing a new Optoma BL-FP180E lamp

Pre-installation safety Preparation: Follow these important safety tips before installing a new BL-FP180E into your Optoma TX540 projector.

Switch off the power to the projector by pressing the Power/Standby button.
Allow the projector to cool down for at least 30 minutes. If should be cool to the touch. The Optoma EX540 runs at a high temperature and you can burn yourself badly if you don’t allow the projector to cool down.
Disconnect the power cord.

Step-by-step instructions

Figure 1 Remove the old lamp 1: Use a screwdriver to loosen the two screws holding the projector lamp cover in place. The Optoma EX540 projector should be cool to the touch.

Figure 2: Remove the lamp cover and place to one side. Don’t lose the screws to the cover as the projector will not turn back on until the projector lamp cover has been properly installed.

Figure 3: Remove both screws holding the BL-FP180E (SP.8EF01GC01) in place.Lift the wire handle on the lamp and gently remove it from the projector. Be careful not to hit the lamp or you can cause it to break.

NOTE: The BL-FP180E (SP.8EF01GC01) contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle this lamp.

Install the new lamp: Take the new Optoma BL-FP180E (SP.8EF01GC01) projector lamp out of its packaging and lift the handle on the lamp. Gently place it into the projector making sure not to touch the actual bulb. Oil from fingerprint marks can burn black spots onto the lamp when it heats up. Tighten the screws on the projector lamp. d. Close the lid. Tighten the cover screws. You are now ready to reset the lamp timer.

Reset the Optoma TX540 projector lamp timer

Your Optoma TX540 comes equipped with an automatic projector lamp timer that tracks the number of hours left for the BL-FP180E (SP.8EF01GC01) lamp. Each time you change the lamp you need to reset the lamp timer. Failure to do so may cause the projector to use the lamp over the recommended period of time resulting in the lamp exploding.

To reset the lamp timer:

Press MENU
Select OPTIONS
Select Lamp Settings
Select Lamp Reset
Select Yes

TIP FOR LONGER LAMP LIFE: Under Brightness Mode:

Choose STD to dim the projector lamp and lower power consumption making the lamp last longer.
Choose BRIGHT to make the lamp brighter but decrease lamp life.

Installing the new projector lamp

The Epson EB-825W uses the Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp.

Before installation:

Turn power button off wait for light to stop flashing.
Turn off power switch on Epson EB-825W projector.
Unplug the power cord.
Before changing the projector lamp, allow the Epson EB-825W projector to cool down. It should be cool to the touch before you open it to change the projector lamp. Otherwise you run the risk of burning yourself.
Do not operate the projectors while any of the lamps are removed as this may result in malfunctions, fire hazard and other accidents.

Caution: Don’t touch the actual bulb with your fingers since the oil from your skin can cause a black spot on the bulb.

The lamp cover is found on top of the Epson EB-825W projector. Loosen the lamp cover screw — you can’t remove it only loosen it.

Slide the Epson EB-825W projector lamp cover off.

Loosen the two screws holding the Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp in place.

Grab the Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp by the side indents. Gently pull the lamp out. Pulling too quickly can cause the bulb to shatter. Learn what to do should this happen.

NOTE: The Epson ELPLP50 V13H010L50 projector lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps! If you bought from an authentic manufacturer they will recycle the lamp for you at no extra cost (another reason to buy authentic lamps).

Gently insert the Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp making sure it’s facing the right way.

Tighten the screws on the new Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp. Be sure not to tighten too much or the lamp may not work.

Replace the lamp cover and tighten the screw on the EB-825W projector lamp cover.

Reset the Epson EB-825W projector lamp timer.

Reset the projector lamp timer

Reset the Epson EB-825W projector Lamp Replacement Counter only when the Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp has been replaced.

Press the MENU button on the remote control. The Lamp Reset Menu will appear.
Scroll down to the RESET LAMP HOURS. Press ENTER.
A prompt appears asking if you want to RESET LAMP HOURS?
Select YES and press ENTER.
Press MENU to exit.

Prolong the life of the Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp:

Extend the life of the newly installed Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp with the following tips:

Final message: If this warning message displays, the projector will shut down in 40 seconds. The lamp MUST be replaced before the projector will operate normally.

Replace the BenQ CS.5JJ1K.001 projector lamp immediately.

Replacing the BenQ MP620P projector lamp

Follow these safety instructions before changing the lamp:

Reduce the risk of electrical shock by disconnecting the power cord on the BenQ MP620P projector.
Reduce the risk of severe burns by allowing the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes. The projector should be cool to the touch.

The projector lamp cover is found on the bottom side of the BenQ MP620P projector. Place in on something soft to avoid scratching the projector before turning it over. Lift the projector up slightly to access the screw to the projector lamp cover.
Loosen the screw holding the lamp cover in place.

Step A:

Lift up the projector lamp cover.
Remove the lamp cords from the slots. Don’t lose the screw!
Disconnect the lamp connector by pushing it against the projector while pulling it up.

Step B:

Loosen the screw that secures the lamp.

Lift the handle so that it stands up. Use the handle to slowly pull the lamp out of the projector. Pulling out too quickly may cause the bulb to break. If this happens go to: What to do when your projector lamp explodes.

NOTE: The BenQ CS.5JJ1K.001 projector lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps! If you bought from an authentic manufacturer they will recycle the lamp for you at no extra cost (another reason to buy authentic lamps).

Insert the new BenQ CS.5JJ1K.001 projector lamp. Align the two holes on the lamp with the locators on the projector.

Step C:

Tighten the screw that secures the lamp. Loose screw may cause a bad connection,
which could result in malfunction. Do not over tighten the screw.
Connect the lamp connector to the projector.
Place the lamp cords back to the slots.

Replace the lamp cover on the BenQ MP620C projector.

Reset the lamp timer. (See below for instructions.)

Resetting the lamp timer

Do not reset the BenQ MP620C projector lamp timer if the lamp has not been replaced as this could cause damage. Don’t start the if the lamp cover has not been replaced.

Press and hold the Exit 5 button on the projector for 5 seconds to display the total used lamp time.
Press Auto on the projector or on the remote control to reset the lamp hour to “0”.
Wait about 5 seconds to let the OSD disappear.

Extend the life of the BenQ MP620P projector lamp:

Keep your air filters clean to avoid overheating the projector.
Setting Lamp Power to Whisper mode. Using Whisper mode reduces system noise and power consumption. It also extends the projector lamp life. To set Whisper mode, go into the Advanced Setup > Lamp > Lamp Power menu.

Replace the NEC NP400 projector lamp by following this easy guide.

Finding lamp hours

The NEC NP400 projector uses the NEC NP07LP projector lamp. You can track the hours left for the project lamp with the Usage Time menu to determine when it’s time to replace the NEC NP400 projector lamp.

Go to INFO menu
Scroll down to LAMP LIFE REMAINING and LAMP HOURS USED.
The progress indicator shows the percentage of remaining bulb life:
When the lamp usage reaches 0, the Lamp Life REMAINING starts a count down from 100 hours
When the count down reaches 0, the projector will turn off and not turn on.

End of life warnings

When the NEC NP400 is reaching end of life you’ll see the following warning on screen message: LAMP HAS REACHED THE END OF ITS USABLE LIFE. PLEASE REPLACE THE LAMP AND FILTER. The LAMP indicator will also blink red. If on screen colours looks off or of the picture is faint or has deteriorated replace the NEC NP400 projector lamp immediately.

Changing the NEC NP07LP projector lamp

Follow these important safety instructions before installing the new NEC NP07LP projector lamp

turn off the NEC NP400 projector.
unplug the projector from its power source.
unplug the power cable.
wait until the projector is cool to the touch to avoid getting burned.

Loosen the NEC NP400 projector lamp cover screw.

Push and slide the NEC NP400 projector cover off.

Loosen the two screws holding the NEC NP07LP projector lamp in place. (The screws will not come out only loosen.) Remove the projector lamp by holding the indent and pulling up.

NOTE: Your NEC NP07LP projector lamp should be properly recycled. These lamps contain mercury and can’t be placed into common garbage.

Install a new lamp housing into the NEC NP400 projector, gently pressing the projector lamp housing into the socket. Take care not to touch the actual bulb as your finger prints can leave oil marks that burn black marks onto the bulb.

Push the top center on the projector lamp to secure it. Tighten the screw on the projector lamp.

Re-attach the NEC NP400 lamp cover by sliding the cover until it snaps into place. Tighten the screw on the lamp cover.

Reset the lamp timer

Once the NEC NP07LP projector lamp and NEC NP400 projector filter have both been replaced you will need to reset the timer for both. You want the projector to be able to accurately track the projector lamp life.

Clear usage hours and reset hours

Plug in the power cored into the wall outlet.
Turn on the projector.
From the MENU select RESET.
Choose CLEAR LAMP HOURS.
A confirmation message appears.
Select YES.

Extending the life of the NEC NP400 projector lamp

Get your newly installed NEC NP07LP projector lamp will last longer by choosing the ECO option. The ECO MODE increases projector lamp life by lowering the power consumption. There are three modes to choose from:

Auto Mode: 4000 hours
Normal: 5000 hours
Eco ModeL 8000 hours

Install a Hitachi CP-X305 lamp replacement

When it’s time to replace the Hitachi CP-X305 lamp this guide shows you how do it the right way.

Watch for these signs when the Hitachi CP-X305 lamp is reaching end of life:

Both the Hitachi CP-X305 Power and Lamp Indicators are flashing red while the Temp Indicator is turned off.
Color tone on the screen may also appear weak or washed out.
Picture has poor color quality.

Authentic lamps

Only an OEM authentic replacement projector lamp will keep your Hitachi CP-X305 projector working. Look for the seal of approval before purchasing. Learn to spot copycat lamps posing as authentic lamps. Keep track of projector lamp life so you’ll know when to replace the projector lamp. Avoid generics because they have a shorter life than originals as well as being prone to explosions and created with toxic substitute parts. They can damage the sensitive optics in your Hitachi CP-X205 projector and as well as hurt your eyesight.

Install the Hitachi DT00841 projector lamp

Safety steps before installing the Hitachi DT00841:

Turn off the Hitachi CP-X305 projector.
Unplug the power cord.
Allow the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes. It should be cool to the touch. This projector works using high heat and there is danger you can be burned.
NOTE: If the projector is mounted on the ceiling, don’t stand underneath the projector while opening the cover.

Prepare the new Hitachi CP-X305 projector lamp. If the projector is mounted on a ceiling, or if the lamp has broken, contact your dealer for assistance.
Loosen the screw (marked by arrow) of the lamp cover and then slide the lamp cover to the side to remove it.
Loosen the 2 screws (marked by arrow) of the Hitachi DT00841 projector lamp, and slowly pick up the lamp by the handles. Be careful not the bang the lamp. The Hitachi DT00841 projector lamp contains mercury and must be recycled properly. Do not throw it in regular garbage.
Insert the new lamp, taking care not to touch the actual bulb. Oil in your fingers will cause a dark spot on the lamp when it heats up.
Tighten the two screws of the Hitachi DT00841 projector lamp that were loosened to remove the old projector lamp.
Slide the lamp cover back in place and firmly fasten the screw of the lamp cover.
Turn on the projector and set the lamp timer:

To reset the projector lamp timer:

Note: Reset the projector lamp time only when you have replaced the lamp so the Hitachi CP-X305 projector can properly track the lamp life. Otherwise you run the risk of using the lamp beyond its life.

Press the MENU button
Scroll down to the GO TO ADVANCED MENU option. Press ENTER
Scroll down to the OPTION menu in the left column and press ENTER.
Scroll down to LAMP TIME. Press ENTER To make a dialogue field appear
Scroll up to the RESET option on the dialogue box.
The lamp setting will be set to zero.

Replacing the air filters

Get more hours from your Hitachi DT00841 by keeping your air filters clean to avoid overheating the projector.

Pull the filter frame’s knob up while holding the filter cover. The filter frame will come off and the air filter will appear.
Take out the old air filter and insert the new air filter.
Put the filter frame back.
Put the filter unit back into the projector
Turn the projector on and reset the filter time using the FILTER TIME item in the EASY MENU.
