End of lamp life warnings

When the Canon LV-LP21 projector lamp has reached its end of life the LAMP REPLACE on the Canon LV-X4E projector lights yellow. Replace the projector lamp immediately when you see this. Other warning signs may be a dim picture, color that appears washed or an image that is fading.

Replace the projector lamp

Before changing the projector lamp:

Let the Canon LV-X4E cool down for at least 45 minutes. This projector operates at an extremely high temperature and you could get badly burned if it’s still hot. Don’t rush it.
Be sure to unplug the electrical cord so there is no chance the projector could get turned on during the installation. This could damage your projector.

Loosen the two screws holding the projector lamp cover in place. Place the cover aside.
Loosen the two screws on with a screwdriver and pull out the Canon LV-LP21 lamp assembly by using the built in handle.
NOTE: The used LV-LP21 projector lamp contains mercury and should be properly recycled. Don’t throw it into regular garbage.
Pulling too quickly can cause the projector bulb to shatter. Learn how to clean up a broken lamp.
Insert the replacement Canon LV-LP21 projector lamp. Be careful not to touch the actual bulb as oil from your fingers can leave black marks on the lamp.
Tighten the two screws on the lamp.
Put back the lamp cover and tighten its two screws.
Connect the AC power cord to the Canon LV-LP21 and turn on the projector to reset the lamp timer.

Resetting the lamp timer counter

After replacing the Canon LV-X4E projector lamp, you’ll need to turn off the LAMP REPLACE indicator by resetting the LAMP REPLACE COUNTER. The counter tracks the number of hours the lamp the Canon LV-X4 projector has been used and triggers the warning light when the lamp is reaching its end of life. Not resetting it after may stop your projector from turning back on.

Turn the projector on and press the MENU.
The On-Screen menu will be displayed on the left.
Using the arrow buttons, mover the red frame pointer to the SETTING menu icon.
Press the up/docwn buttons, move to the LAMP COUNTER option.
Press OK to open up as the RESET LAMP COUNTER box.
Click on the SET option to open a confirmation window.
The message “Lamp replace counter reset?” is displayed.
Click on YES.
Press OK.
The lamp hours will be reset to zero.

Replacement BenQ MP720P projector lamp

When you get that final warning to change the BenQ MP720P projector lamp, this guide shows you how.

Step 1: Know when to replace

When it’s time to replace the BenQ MP720P projector lamp you’ll see a series warnings appear on screen.

First message: Total (equivalent) lamp hour has reached 3000 hours. Install a new lamp for optimal performance.

Second message: Total (equivalent) lamp hour has reached 3950 hour. A new lamp should be fitted to avoid the inconvenience when the projector runs out of lamp time.

Third message: Total (equivalent) lamp hour has reached 4000 hours. This message will flash in the center of the screen for about 30 seconds together with the Lamp indicator lighting up red for 40 seconds

Final message: If this warning message displays, the projector will shut down in 40 seconds. The lamp MUST be replaced before the projector will operate normally.

Replace the BenQ CS.5JJ1K.001 projector lamp immediately.

Step 2: Buying the correct replacement projector lamp

There are hundreds of choices out there on the Net so it can be confusing finding the correct projector lamp for your BenQ MP720P projector. Many of these replacements lamps are knock-off generic lamps that you should avoid at all costs. Be sure to buy an authentic BenQ CS.5JJ1K.001 replacement lamp.

Generic “compatible” lamps may appear to be a bargain but in the long run end up costing you more for the following reasons:

Step 3: Replacing the BenQ MP720P projector lamp

Follow these safety instructions before changing the lamp:

Reduce the risk of electrical shock by disconnecting the power cord on the BenQ MP720P projector.
Reduce the risk of severe burns by allowing the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes. The projector should be cool to the touch.

The projector lamp cover is found on the bottom side of the BenQ MP720P projector. Place in on something soft to avoid scratching the projector before turning it over. Lift the projector up slightly to access the screw to the projector lamp cover.
Loosen the screw holding the lamp cover in place.

Step A:

Lift up the projector lamp cover.
Remove the lamp cords from the slots. Don’t lose the screw!
Disconnect the lamp connector by pushing it against the projector while pulling it up.

Step B:

Loosen the screw that secures the lamp.

Lift the handle so that it stands up. Use the handle to slowly pull the lamp out of the projector. Pulling out too quickly may cause the bulb to break. If this happens go to: What to do when your projector lamp explodes.

NOTE: The BenQ CS.5JJ1K.001 projector lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps! If you bought from an authentic manufacturer they will recycle the lamp for you at no extra cost (another reason to buy authentic lamps).

Insert the new BenQ CS.5JJ1K.001 projector lamp. Align the two holes on the lamp with the locators on the projector.

Step C:

Tighten the screw that secures the lamp. Loose screw may cause a bad connection,
which could result in malfunction. Do not over tighten the screw.
Connect the lamp connector to the projector.
Place the lamp cords back to the slots.

Replace the lamp cover on the BenQ MP720P projector.

Reset the lamp timer. (See below for instructions.)

Resetting the lamp timer

Do not reset the BenQ MP720P projector lamp timer if the lamp has not been replaced as this could cause damage. Don’t start the if the lamp cover has not been replaced.

Press and hold the Exit 5 button on the projector for 5 seconds to display the total used lamp time.
Press Auto on the projector or on the remote control to reset the lamp hour to “0”.
Wait about 5 seconds to let the OSD disappear.

Extend the BenQ MP720P projector lamp:

Keep your air filters clean to avoid overheating the projector.
Setting Lamp Power to Whisper mode. Using Whisper mode reduces system noise and power consumption. It also extends the projector lamp life. To set Whisper mode, go into the Advanced Setup > Lamp > Lamp Power menu.

Follow this step-by-step guide to install a replacement Epson PowerLite 825+ projector lamp.

Know when to replace

Watch for the following signs indicating it’s time for you to install an Epson PowerLite 825+ projector:

The projected image gets darker or starts to deteriorate.
The message Replace the lamp appears on the screen and the warning light flashes orange.
If the warning light is flashing red then the projector lamp has burnt out and the projector will shut down. Replace the lamp immediately!

Invest in authentic replacements

Keep your Epson PowerLite 825+ working at its best optimum levels and purchase OEM authentic projector lamps. You’ll recognize them by their seal of approval. The bargain prices for generic lamps can be tempting but in the end they cause more problems then they are worth.

Reasons to avoid to generics:

generics can damage the sensitive electronics in your projector.

often prone to explosions

Installing the replacement projector lamp

The Epson PowerLite 825+ uses the Epson ELPLP50 V13H010L50 projector lamp.

Before installation:

Turn power button off wait for light to stop flashing.
Turn off power switch on Epson PowerLite 825+ projector.
Unplug the power cord.
Before changing the projector lamp, allow the Epson PowerLite 825+ projector to cool down. It should be cool to the touch before you open it to change the projector lamp. Otherwise you run the risk of burning yourself.
Do not operate the projectors while any of the lamps are removed as this may result in malfunctions, fire hazard and other accidents.

Caution: Don’t touch the actual bulb with your fingers since the oil from your skin can cause a black spot on the bulb.

The lamp cover is found on top of the Epson PowerLite 825+ projector. Loosen the lamp cover screw — you can’t remove it only loosen it.

Slide the projector lamp cover off.

Loosen the two screws holding the Epson ELPLP50 V13H010L50 projector lamp in place.

Grab the Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp by the side indents. Gently pull the lamp out. Pulling too quickly can cause the bulb to shatter. Learn what to do should this happen.

NOTE: The Epson ELPLP50 V13H010L50 projector lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps!

Gently insert the Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp making sure it’s facing the right way. Push down on the side marked PUSH until it snaps into place. Tighten the screws on the new Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp. Be sure not to tighten too much or the lamp may not work.

Replace the lamp cover and tighten the screw on the Epson PowerLite 825+ projector lamp cover. You are now ready to reset the projector lamp timer.

Reset the projector lamp timer

Reset the Epson PowerLite 825+ projector Lamp Replacement Counter only when the Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp has been replaced.

Press the MENU button on the remote control. The Lamp Reset Menu will appear.
Scroll down to the RESET LAMP HOURS. Press ENTER.
A prompt appears asking if you want to RESET LAMP HOURS?
Select YES and press ENTER.
Press MENU to exit.

Prolong the life of the Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp:

Extend the life of the newly installed Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp with the following tips:

Keep your air filters clean to avoid overheating the projector.
Turn off the Epson PowerLite 825+ projector and let it stand for at least one hour ever 24 hours. An average use of four to five hours per day will ensure longer lamp life.
Make sure there is enough airflow around the projector particularly if it’s been permanently mounted.

This guide shows you how to install replacement Optoma THEME-S H57 projector lamp.

Invest in an authentic projector lamp

In order for your Optoma THEME-S H57 to work properly you need to install an Optoma BL-FU250A created by an OEM manufacturer. Avoid installing a counterfeit Optoma THEME-S H57 projector lamp for the following reasons:

generic lamps have a much shorter life so are actually more expensive in the long run
Krypton-85 and other toxic chemicals are used to create counterfeit lamps
compatible lamps are more prone to overheat and explode
can’t properly calibrated to work with the sensitive electronics in projectors
no protective covering installed so your eyesight is at risk
copycat manufacturers offer no guarantee or refunds
the warranty on your Optoma THEME-S H57 projector will become void

Knowing when to replace

The projector will detect the lamp life and when the Optoma BL-FU250A lamp approaches 1500 hours a warning message will flash on screen: will flash a warning message onscreen: “Lamp life exceed.If the lamp burns out the LED lamp will start red and the projector will shut down until the projector lamp is replaced.

Installing the Optoma BL-FU250A projector lamp

Follow these important safety tips before changing the replacement projector lamp:

Switch off the power to the projector by pressing the Power/Standby button.
Allow the projector to cool down for at least 30 minutes. It should be cool to the touch. These projectors run using high temperatures and you can burn yourself badly if you don’t allow the projector to cool down.
Disconnect the power cord.

Step 1: Remove the projector lamp cover

Use a screwdriver to loosen the two screws holding the projector lamp cover in place. Make sure you have followed the safety tips before taking the cover off. The THEME-S H57 projector should be cool to the touch. Don’t lose the screws to the cover as the THEME-S H57 projector will not turn back on until the lamp cover has been properly installed.

Step 2: Remove the projector lamp

Remove the two screws holding the Optoma BL-FU250A in place.

NOTE: The Optoma BL-FU250A lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps!
Lift the wire handle on the Optoma BL-FU250A projector lamp and gently remove it from the projector. Be careful not to hit the lamp or you can cause it to break.

Step 3: Installing the new lamp

Take the new Optoma BL-FU250A replacement projector lamp out of its packaging and lift the handle on the lamp. Gently place it into the projector making sure not to touch the actual bulb. Oil from fingerprint marks can burn black spots onto the lamp when it heats up.
Tighten the screws on the lamp.
Close the lid. Tighten the cover screws.

Reset the Optoma H57 projector lamp timer

Your Optoma THEME-S H57 comes equipped with an automatic lamp timer that tracks the number of hours left for the Optoma BL-FU250A projector lamp. Each time you change the lamp you need to reset the lamp timer. Failure to do so may cause the projector to use the lamp over the recommended period of time resulting in the lamp exploding.

Press the Menu button to open the On-Screen-Data (OSD) menu.
Press the right/left arrow button to move to the Management menu.
Press the right/left arrow button button to move down to Lamp setting.
Press the right arrow or Enter button to select Ok and reset the time.
To exit Menu button.

Watch your hours

When the picture on screen becomes distorted or the color looks off, this is a warning sign that your Vivitek H1085 projector lamp is reaching end of life. Check the lamp hours when you see the power LED flashing 5 times consecutively. To check the lamp hours:

Press the Menu button to open the OSD menu.
Press left/right arrow keys to move button to move to the STATUS Menu.
The LAMP HOUR field displays the number of hours the lamp has been in use.
You can expect 2000 hours lamp life. 3000 hours if Eco Mode has been turned on.

Buy the right projector lamp!

Your Vivitek H1085 projector uses the Vivitek 5811116206-S projector lamp. Be sure the purchase an authentic projector lamp and avoid the temptation of a the generic lamps with their bargain prices. There are several problems associated with generics that you want to avoid and these include

manufactured with toxic and dangerous substitutes
shorter lamp life
prone to explosions
voids your projector warranty if you install a generic.
can’t be properly calibrated

Go with an authentic projector lamp and keep your Vivitek H1085 projector working properly.

Step 3: Replace the projector lamp

Your Vivitek H1085 projector uses the Vivitek 5811116206-S projector lamp. Before changing the projector lamp do the following safety steps:

Reduce the risk of electrical shock by disconnecting the power cord on the Vivitek H1085 projector.
Reduce the risk of severe burns by allowing the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes.

Turn the projector around to locate the lamp cover screw. Remove the captive screw holding the lamp cover place.

Gently slide off the lamp cover and place it to one side. You will need to re-install the cover before turning on the Vivitek H1085 projector again.

Remove the 3 screws holding the Vivitek 5811116206-S lamp in place.

Using the wire handle, gently pull out the Vivitek 5811116206-S projector lamp. Pulling too quickly can cause the bulb to shatter. Learn how to clean up a broken lamp.

NOTE: The 5811116206-S projector lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used projector lamps!

Lift up the wire handle on the new Vivitek 5811116206-S projector lamp and gently guide it into the H1085 projector.
Take care not to touch the actual bulb as the oil from your fingers will smudges that will burn into a black spots when the projector heats up.
Tighten the lamp screw.
Re-install the H1085 lamp cover and tighten the screw.
Reset the total lamp hour timer.

Resetting the Lamp Hour Timer

It’s important to only reset the lamp timer when the Vivitek 5811116206-S projector lamp has been replaced. Resetting the lamp timer without changing the lamp can make it work beyond its recommended hours and cause harm to your Vivitek H1085 projector.

Press the Menu button to open the OSD menu.
Press left/right arrow keys to move to the Setup menu.
Press up/down arrows to move to the Advanced menu
Press Enter.
Press the cursor up/down arrows button to Lamp Hour Reset.
Press Enter.
A message will appear saying the Lamp Hour has been reset to zero.
Press the Menu button to return to the main Setup menu.

Extending the life of the Vivitek 5811116206-S projector lamp:

Keep your air filters clean to avoid overheating the projector.
Use the Lamp Power option on the Vivitek H1085 projector and set to Eco Mode to reduce the amount of power used but extend lamp life.

Add a new ASK Proxima C460 projector lamp

This quick guide shows you how to swap your old ASK Proxima C460 projector lamp for a new one in three easy steps!

Step 1: Know the warning signs

When the Ask Proxima C460 projector lamp is reaching end of life, the message “Replace lamp” appears on the screen. Replace the projector lamp immediately. After 20 hours the projector will turn off.

Step 2: Go with authentic

Be sure to buy your replacement Ask Proxima C460 from an authentic source. Avoid knock-off “compatible” lamps created with inferior materials making them prone to explosions. Copy-cat manufacturers use toxic substances such as Krypton-85 in order to get the same results as the original lamps. They also don´t install the proper safeguards to protect your eyes from the intense light needed to project the images onto the screen.

Step 3: Installing the projector lamp

The ASK Proxima C460 projector needs the Ask Proxima SP-LAMP-016. Follow these steps to install the new projector lamp.

Disconnect the power cord and allow the projector to cool for one hour before replacing the lamp. The ASK Proxima C460 operates under high heat and can cause burns.
The lamp lid for the ASK Proxima C460 is found on the bottom of the projector.
To remove the cover: Gently place a flathead screwdriver into the slot on the top of the projector by the right speaker and slide the small lever toward the right speaker. The cover will pop out.
Unscrew the three screws holding the Ask Proxima SP-LAMP-016 in place.
Gently grab the wire handle and pull out the Ask Proxima SP-LAMP-016.
The LAMP-016. projector lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps!

Don’t throw this lamp into regular garbage as it contains mercury.
Inset the new Ask Proxima SP-LAMP-016 projector lamp all the way into the ASK Proxima C460 projector.
Tighten the three screws that hold the SP-LAMP-016 lamp in place.
Replace the lamp lid and tighten the screw holding the lamp lid in place.
You’re now ready to reset the lamp timer.

Reset the lamp timer

In order for the ASK Proxima C460 to correctly track the lamp life of your newly installed Ask Proxima SP-LAMP-016 projector lamp, you’ll need to reset the timer.

Press the MENU button to display the MAIN MENU option.
Scroll across the top menu to the SEREVICE menu. Another pull down menu will appear.
Scroll down to LAMP RESET. Press SELECT.
The lamp replace time is reset to zero.

Extend the life of the Ask Proxima SP-LAMP-016:

Turning on the Eco Mode to lower power consumption and extend the lamp life by 130%.
Keep your air filters clean to avoid overheating the projector.
Turn off the ASK Proxima C460 projector and let it stand for at least one hour ever 24 hours.
Make sure there is enough airflow around the projector particularly if it’s been permanently mounted.
