The Sanyo PLC-XF46 projector uses four lamps at a time. The Lamp Status Display shows the status of each Sanyo POA-LMP100 lamp:

Projector lamp management

The Sanyo PLC-XF46 projector is equipped with four projector lamps. The Lamp Management Function automatically changes the combinations of lighting lamps by detecting which lamps are still working.

When any of the four Sanyo POA-LMP100 projector lamp goes out, Lamp Mode will automatically switch from using four lamps to using two lamps. When any of the two Sanyo POA-LMP100 projector lamp is out, the projector will operate using only one lamp.

End of life warning signs

When any four of the projector lamp is nearing end of life, these indicators will flash yellow. In order to determine which of the four Sanyo POA-LMP100 projector lamps needs to be replaced, you’ll need to consult the Lamp Status Display on the Sanyo PLC-XF46 projector screen as well.

Installing a new projector lamp

NOTE: Make sure of the number of lamps that need to be replaced by referring to the Lamp Status Display and the Lamp Management Function.

Before replacing any lamps follow these safety steps:

  • Turn off the Sanyo PLC-XF46 projector.
  • Unplug the power cord.
  • Allow the projector to cool down for at least 45 minutes. It should be cool to the touch. The Sanyo PLC-XF46 operates under extremely high temperatures and you can seriously burn yourself if you don’t give the projector time to cool.

To install the lamps:

  • Remove the two screws on the Sanyo PLC-XF46 Lamp Cover and press the top button to open the Lamp Cover.
  • Choose which lamp needs to be replaced. BE SURE TO PICK THE CORRECT PROJECTOR LAMP THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
  • Loosen the two screws holding the Sanyo POA-LMP100  projector lamp in place.
  • Grasp the handle and gently pull out the defective Sanyo POA-LMP100 lamp. Place to one side. Be sure to dispose of the used Sanyo POA-LMP100  projector lamp through a local recycling program. Don’t throw this projector lamp into the regular garbage as it contains mercury.
  • Take the new Sanyo POA-LMP100 projector lamp by the handle and gently guide it into place.
  • Tighten the two screws holding the Sanyo POA-LMP100  projector lamp assembly in place.
  • Replace the Sanyo PLC-XF46 Lamp Cover and tighten the two screws to put the lamp cover back in place.
  • Reset the Lamp Counter following the instructions below.

Reset the projector lamp counter

Each time you install a new Sanyo POA-LMP100 projector lamp, you’ll need to reset the lamp counter for that particular lamp so the projector can keep track of the numbers of hours the lamp has left.

  • Turn the Sanyo PLC-XF46 projector on.
  • Press the MENU buttons to open the ON-SCREEN MENU.
  • Press POINT LEFT/RIGHT button to get the red frame pointer to move to the SETTING menu icon.
  • Press POINT DOWN button to projector Lamp counter reset. Press SELECT.
  • Move the arrow to the replaced lamp number (Lamp 1, Lamp 2, Lamp 3 or Lamp 4). Press SELECT. BE SURE TO RESET THE CORRECT LAMPS
  • The message “Lamp replace counter Reset?” will be displayed with YES or NO underneath.
  • Move the pointer to YES. Press the SELECT button.
  • Move to the second confirmation box and select YES.

NOTE: BE SURE TO RESET THE CORRECT PROJECTOR LAMP otherwise the lamp replace indicator will continue lighting YELLOW.

Resetting the Sanyo PLC-XF46 projector lamp mode

You can set the lamp mode to use either four lamps or two lamps. Using 2 lamps will prolong the life of the projector lamps.

Press MENU button so the ON-SCREEN Menu will appear.
Using the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button move to SETTING. Press SELECT button.
A second dialog screen appears.
Press the POINT DOWN button to move to LAMP MODE.
4 lamps mode using all lamps. Picture will become brighter.
2 lamps mode using only 2 lamps. Picture will become darker
NOTE: You must wait 90 seconds after changing the Lamp Mode before changing it again.

Tips to make your Sanyo POA-LMP100 projector lamp last longer

Extend the life of your newly installed Sanyo POA-LMP100  by following these helpful tips:

  • Wait at least five minutes before turning the Sanyo PLC-XF46 projector off.
  • Don’t operate the projector continuously without letting it stand for at least one hour turned off every 24 hours.
  • Cleaning the air filter regularly will also prolong the life of the Sanyo POA-LMP100  and prevent the Sanyo PLC-XF46 projector from overheating.

4-steps to installing the Optoma BL-FU185A projector lamp

Follow these important safety tips before replacing the Optoma BL-FU185A projector lamp:

Note: The used Optoma BL-FU185A projector lamp contains mercury and should be properly recycled. Don’t throw it into regular garbage.

Steps to install the new projector lamp:

1. Remove the new Optoma BL-FU185A  projector lamp from its packaging. Taking care not to touch the actual bulb, lift up the handle on the new lamp and insert it gently into the Optoma PRO250X projector.

2. Tighten the two screws on the projector lamp.

3. Replace the lamp cover and tighten its two screws.

  • Turn on the projector.
  • Using the remote press MENU
  • Select OPTIONS
  • Select LAMP SETTINGS
  • Select LAMP RESET
  • Select YES.
  • Press MENU to exit.

Tips for extending Optoma BL-FU185A projector lamp life:

  • Chose the “STD” mode to to dim the projector lamp and lower power consumption. This will extend the lamp life by up to 130%.
  • Keep your air filters clean to avoid overheating the projector.
  • Every 24 hours, turn off the projector and let it stand for 1 hour
  • Make sure there is enough airflow around the Optoma PRO250X projector particularly if it’s been permanently mounted.

Installing the Projector Lamp Replacement

The Epson EB- 824 uses the Epson ELPLP50 V13H010L50 projector lamp.

Before installation:

  • Turn power button off wait for light to stop flashing.
  • Turn off power switch on Epson EB-824 projector.
  • Unplug the power cord.
  • Before changing the projector lamp, allow the Epson EB-824 projector to cool down. It should be cool to the touch before you open it to change the projector lamp. Otherwise you run the risk of burning yourself.
  • Do not operate the projectors while any of the lamps are removed as this may result in malfunctions, fire hazard and other accidents.

Caution: Don’t touch the actual bulb with your fingers since the oil from your skin can cause a black spot on the bulb.

Slide the Epson EB-824 projector lamp cover off.

NOTE: The Epson ELPLP50 V13H010L50 projector lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps! If you bought from an authentic manufacturer they will recycle the lamp for you at no extra cost (another reason to buy authentic lamps).

Gently insert the Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp making sure it’s facing the right way.

Tighten the screws on the new Epson ELPLP50 projector lamp. Be sure not to tighten too much or the lamp may not work.

Replace the lamp cover and tighten the screw on the EB-824 projector lamp cover.

  • Go to INFO menu
  • Scroll down to USAGE TIME to display the LAMP LIFE REMAINING and LAMP HOURS USED.
  • The progress indicator shows the percentage of remaining bulb life:
  • When the lamp usage reaches 0, the Lamp Life REMAINING starts a count down from 100 hours
  • When the count down reaches 0, the projector will turn off and not turn on.

Step 3: Changing the NEC NP-M300W projector lamp

NOTE: New air filters are shipped with the lamp and it’s recommended you replace them at the same time.

Follow these important safety instructions before installing the new NEC NP16LP projector lamp.

  • turn off the NEC NP-M300W projector.
  • unplug the projector from its power source.
  • unplug the power cable.
  • wait until the projector is cool to the touch to avoid getting burned.

Replacing the filters

There are four filters in the NEC NP-M300W projector:

  • Honeycomb hard filter – large and small
  • Accordion soft filter — large and small

Replace all four filters at the same time. Before replacing the filters wipe off any dust and dirt that came loose from the old filters. NOTE: The filters are made with two different types of material in the membrane. Both perform the same.

The filter cover is fixed at six separate points in the projector. Bow the filter cover by pushing it slightly until it releases.

  • Filter unit: Attach two honeycomb hard filters to the NEC NP-M300W filter unit.
  • Filter cover: Attach the two accordion soft filters to the filter cover. Be sure to align the accordion slits with the protrusions of the filter cover.

Reset the lamp timer

Once the NEC NP16LP projector lamp and NEC NP-M300W projector filter have both been replaced you will need to reset the timer for both. You want the projector to be able to accurately track the projector lamp life.

  • Plug in the power cored into the wall outlet.
  • Turn on the projector.
  • From the MENU select RESET.
  • Choose CLEAR LAMP HOURS.

  • Scroll up to CLEAR Filter HOURS.
  • A second submenu will appear.
  • Select YES. Press the ENTER button.

How to replace the Optoma BL-FP180D

Follow these important safety steps before installing a new Optoma BL-FU180A (SP.82G01.001) projector lamp:

  • The used Optoma BL-FP180D (DE.5811116037-S) projector lamp contains mercury and should be properly recycled. Don’t throw it into regular garbage.
  • Disconnect the power cord.
  • Switch off the power to the Optoma Dx617 projector by pressing the Power/Standby button.
  • Allow the projector to cool down for at least 30 minutes. If should be cool to the touch. These projectors run using high temperatures and you can burn yourself badly if you don’t allow the projector to cool down.

1. The lamp cover is located underneath the Optoma Dx617 so place it on soft before turning it over. Remove the two captive screws from the cover.

2. Lift the cover up off the Optoma DS317 and place it to one side. You’ll need to re-install the cover after the new projector lamp has been installed or the projector will not turn on.

3. Use a screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the Optoma BL-FU180A (SP.82G01.001) projector lamp module in place.

4. Lift up the wire handle and slowly put out the old Optoma BL-FU180A projector lamp. Be careful not to bang the projector lamp against the projector as this may case the bulb to break. Be sure to properly recycle since this lamp contains mercury.

5. Take the new Optoma BL-FU180A (SP.82G01.001) projector lamp out of its package. Gently place it into the Optoma Dx617 projector. Tighten the two screws on the projector lamp.

6. Replace the lamp cover and tighten its two screws. You must now reset the Lamp Replacement Timer.

The Optoma Dx617 projector has an automatic projector lamp reset timer that tracks the life of the lamp and triggers the lamp replacement warning. You need to reset the timer each time the lamp is replaced.

  • Scroll over the OPTIONS field.
  • Scroll down to Select Lamp Reset.

  • Reduce the risk of severe burns by allowing the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes. It should be cool to the touch.

Use a Philips screwdriver to push and release the tab. Push up and remove the lamp cover. NOTE: There is an interlock on this case to prevent the risk of electrical shock. Do not attempt to circumvent this interlock.
