pixels on screen (only with satellite?)
TV (Samsung HLN5065W) turns on and works fine for a while. Then the screen freezes with black and white pixels. Only seems to do it with satellite selected as input. I have changed satellite receivers and cables. Tried DVI and RGB. DirecTV says it sounds like the TV (I agree) but Samsung repair says it is a satellite problem (of course). I just want to know what to try or who to call. Hate to throw it away if works for everything else. Take a look at Brandon issue May 1-2, 2009. There was a good pic there. Let me know if you need more info. Quicker reply to Landuyt2713@msn.com

Re: pixels on screen (only with satellite?)
Hello,
This sounds like an issue with the signal (sat) and the settings on your TV it may not be supporting, do you have your TV setup to full 1080?
This can also be an issue with your input board, you say you have tried DVI and RGB, can you try a more analog input like a coaxial cable?
Hope I can help!

Re: pixels on screen (only with satellite?)
I believe I am on 1080. I was told to try to change from/to 1080p or i but cannot remember which way to go. I was told it was DMD board. I was told it is Digital Signal board. I was told a lot of things. I notice it with DVI and I notice it with RGB and have changed the RGB to different inputs. Still have the issue and only with satellite. I will see if I can find how to change the 1080 to/from p or i, and will try coax. Thanks for the input and I will get back to you when I try that. E-mail is LANDUYT2713@msn.com

Re: pixels on screen (only with satellite?)

Re: pixels on screen (only with satellite?)
if the picture freezes and its not the input it is definitely a DMD board issue..
Re: pixels on screen (only with satellite?)
Do you have any idea what that would cost me? Is this something that I can do myself?

Re: pixels on screen (only with satellite?)
yes definitely, the bad news is that they regularly sell these assembled complete with the light engine / optical block which is pricey! (like 700$) but I've found them under 300$ at www.discount-merchant.com and there's nothing to cut or solder, just some screws and plugs it swaps in and out!
Re: pixels on screen (only with satellite?)

Re: pixels on screen (only with satellite?)
Ok. From my standpoint. I have run the satelite through a VCR to get coax to the TV. Seems to work fine, no freeze. So I ran RGB from VCR to TV and that too seems to work. Why does the VCR in line make a difference? Will I still get HD if I run through the VCR? Hey SPGRATH - did your repair work?

hello bosox,
It can be a problem with the input board... when you changed the inputs the problem went away completely?

When I run the satelite through the VCR, the problem goes away. NO freeze. Is the picture still 1080 HD out of the VCR? And Thanks!

Re: pixels on screen (only with satellite?)
depends on the model, but if the signal is just relayed through the VCR the TV might be able to display at 1080 without loosing a bit of quality... frankly this is the first time I hear about this "fix it" nice work! 10 for ingenuity :D

I guess I don't know really what I did but thanks for all your help! If it doesn't work, I will be sure to look you up!

:D here to help!
Re: pixels on screen (only with satellite?)
I'm back! Not working again. Not even with coax. I am going to try to take the cover off and blow out the dust. Any ideas on the part that needs replaced? It also started freezing on other inputs, like Wii. I am guessing at this point, it is time for a new TV? :x

Re: pixels on screen (only with satellite?)
Well it would be a shame to throw out such a big screen
Since the image is freezing at this point, after you dust the interior I only suspect the DMD board. :o And most of the times that requires the light engine to be replaced  which runs about 200 USD...
