flashing status light

was watching the Us open on saturday with no problems then tv shut down on its own with a flashing green status light......the only way to make it stop flashing was to unplug it after plug in the light wil flash for a couple of m ins then stop at this point you can turn it back on ,,,it mite work for hours or mins before it does it again,,,,but lets say you touch the format button on the remote that will cause it to shut down back to the flashing green light....restart is the same green flashes 2 mins goes out,, power up no prob same thing keeps happening i have reset ,,,i have cleaned out the set really good all filters replaced the light some time ago everything has been ok never seen this before,,,, remote wont work after power up un less you use it right away!!!!! I have to shut it down with the reset button nothing on the remote works or the front controls,,,,got any ideas????

Have you checked to make sure the fan is working properly?
