WD-52528 - Sound works, no picture, Menus visible

Postby techbob » Sun Jun 26, 2011 6:50 pm

Hello Forum,

I have a unique issue which I searched through the forum and could not find a similar situation. Basically, my home was struck by lightning this week and many appliances were damaged; my Mitsubishi RPTV being one of them. What is strange is that no matter what input I use, I can hear audio, but not see any picture. What is even more strange is that the TV menus show up bright and vivid as if there is no issue with the lamp or associated parts. Since there are so many different boards to try troubleshooting with, where should I start?

I am a Network Engineer by trade so I have already disassembled part of the TV already, but have been unsuccessful at finding the smoking gun (or anything that smells of smoke for that matter).

Here is a list of parts which I believe may be the culprit, but I'm not clear as to how to troubleshoot:

934C1510 PC Board
934C1530 Interface Board
934C1500 A/V Input Main
934C1520 Digital Video Board

Thanks for your help!!

 Hi,

If you was affected by lightning, with the symptoms you are describing, the issue could normally be in 2 boards:

or
 Analog Video Board (the one with inputs and outputs)

:geek: Lightning issues could affect several boards, we really recommend you getting a technician to check the TV for you, since it might be hard to recognize which boards are working and which ones not.
