JVC projection TV won't stay on

Got a problem with a projector? A DLP or LCD projector can have common issues. Why don't you check this forum out before running out to buy a brand new projector?

JVC projection TV won't stay on

I have a hd-61fn97 jvc projection tv. The lamp needed to be replaced so i replaced it and the tv kept turning off after about 1 minute. I was told it was because the lamp timer needed to be reset. This i learned can only be done with the original remote (which i no longer had) so I purchased the remote and reset the timer however the tv still keeps turning itself off after about 1 minute.... any thoughts?!

Can you advise if you hear any humming or buzzing type sounds coming from the TV ? The thing is that the ballast which is the component that powers the lamp is consumable like the lamp. After so long this component will need replacing. A weak ballast will either not put out the power the lamp needs to ignite, or not be able to maintain the level of power the lamp needs to remain lit. This is the second most common part to fail in these TVs. Unless the ballast has already been replaced I believe there is a good possibility that the ballast could be the problem.
