SAMSUNG HLR5067W Oscillating Noise Mystery

Bought a Samsung HRL5067W DLP about 2 years ago. After hearing an audible electrical snapping sound; set now attempts to power up then shuts down after 20 seconds (lamp doesn't come on). The set makes whirrling sounds and the cooling fans slow down and speed up (oscillate) before the set finally shuts off. Have replaced lamp, ballast board and sensor detect assembly board. Getting to the point of cutting my losses. Would a bad power supply board cause this type of issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

most likely the color wheel. also could be one of the boards. a bad capasitor.
