Testing parts before ordering

Postby tripleb52 » Tue Dec 29, 2009 4:43 pm

My Samsung HL-P5063 TV turns off at random times. Sometimes right after start-up and other times after it has been running for a while. Can turn right back on but doesn't always complete the start up right away. I have already relaced the lamp (needed to anyway with 14000 hrs on it) and am now leaning toward the ballast or the power supply. I was wondering if there is a test to see if it's one or the other or something else. I hate throwing parts at it just to see if it works!! If anyone has any info please let me know. I have replaced the color wheel, analog board, lamp...how much more before I dump this thing? Maybe a LCD is in the near future.

Check for bad solder joints on the power supply and ballast. Resolder them if you are handy. If you are not that handy order replacement boards.
