hello everyone. i have a samsung hlr4266w, that i replaced the color wheel on, but now there is no picture. if i unplug the set the lamp will light up and stay lit but there's still just a black screen. if i push the power button without unplugging the set the lamp will light up but shut down in five seconds, and go to standby mode, no flashing lights.
what did i screw up? the tv was fine before i replaced the wheel.
i have the lamp door switch taped up and have tried to access the service menu but still black screen(kinda sounds like a disease) please help!
thanks

Re: big paperweight?
Check to make sure the ribbon cable is pushed in the currect way. Also make sure the wires are tight and you didn't miss plugging anything back in. Thats the only things i can think of. If all else fails try the old color wheel to see if it comes back to life. You could of bought a bad color wheel.

hi jason,
i think i've got the ribbon cable in right (metal to the back) however i'm not sure how far in its supposed to go.
i did try the old wheel and same result. in the dark you can see the screen light up ever so slightly. not sure what that means.
anyway thanks again for your help

now if i turn the tv on , the melody plays and the lamp lights up, for three seconds. tv shuts down with no melody, and no flashing lights, only standby is lit.
however. if i unplug the set and leave it unpluged sometimes the lamp will stay lit for around 5 minutes.
nice

Re: big paperweight?
are you sure the switch for the lamp door is working? also since it's happening with both the old and new. are you sure you didnt reverse a wire or leave a wire unplugged when you removed the light engine.
Re: big paperweight?
i am sure about the lamp door because if i try to start up without it taped down it shuts off and the lamp door signal comes on, then if i push the switch up the signal goes off.
i have checked and rechecked all connections and everything is in and tight, the only thing suspect is the ribbon cable, i am not sure as to how far it should go in. i've pushed it in til it bends.
does this mean its the dmd board? is it possible that i loosened the chip on the board. would the hold down fix work on this board? or could it be a lamp issue?
i know its an old tv (2005) but its the fifth tv in the house and hardley ever gets used so to spend a thousand on a replacement is not going to happen at this time.
