hd50lpw175yx1 grr..
I have no sound or picture.five tizme blinking then again and stays on until unplugged.I have replaced the caps on the power supply lamp looks good test connections and wire for lamp housing. Took out the color wheel it moves freely and is not broken.one click when I turn it on. That click is not the ballast it comes from the power supply the color wheel doesn't spin up when tested with bulb out and saftey button pushed. I tried to get the ballast to arc with no result so I ordered one. Any other thoughts or advice I read everything I could find before posting and it got me this far so thanks you for that.

Hello johnny,
This might be a controller that is located the DMD board that power up the colorwheel. Did you properly install the ballast? that is one 2 pin connector coming from the power supply, a sensor on the side that goes to the DMD board and the plug on the actual lamp? If so, I am leaning more towards the colorwheel for it does not have to be shattered or misaligned in order to be damaged or defective.

I am having similar problems. Replaced Lamp(first one and tv is 5 years old) but the new lamp won't come on. Where is the safety button exactly? The color wheel doesn't spin or make noise. I am guessing it is the ballast, how can I test before buying. The old bulb had a discoloration on the lens, don"t know if it is actually bad or not, suspecting the ballast went and blew the bulb. The fans run just fine.
standard 5 blinks, stop and repeat.

replaced ballast and bulb, nothing happened. How do I check the color wheel.
if the color wheel is bad will the bulb come on?
I don't hear any loud noises coming from the color wheel area, maybe slightly louder than the fans. goes on for a few seconds then stops and starts again.

if this is running the same cycle to try and boot up the tv 3 times then gives up, this will be a colorwheel issue, to check it you have to actually open the tv and unscrew the colorwheel housing (see http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsun ... 01579a.php) and see if it is shattered or if spin is interrupted by a faulty bearing...

I have given up on this tv. As a result I have a brand new phillips bull. Unused for it and all other parts for sale cheap. I would like 80 for the bulb, and ill through in a used but good bulb. With it
